Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoliers for the entirety of UnPrisoned Season 2.
For UnPrisoned creator Tracy McMillan, the goal of Season 2 of the Hulu and Onyx Collective series was to take the Alexander family from rupture to repair.
In Season 1 of the comedy series, Edwin Alexander (Delroy Lindo) got out of prison after a 17-year sentence for dealing drugs and moved in with his daughter Paige (Kerry Washington), who is a therapist and social media influencer. Paige had misgivings about letting her father around her teenage son Finneas (Faly Rakotohavana), but they ultimately decided to go for it so that her dad could have the best chance staying out of jail. The series is based on McMillan’s life experience.
“Season 1 was very similar to when my dad first got out of prison and we were encountering each other outside of locks, bars, guards, guns — outside of prison, and that...

You know you love her, and why wouldn't you?
Eva Longoria is not only a talented actress who chooses projects that speak not just to her amazing acting talent but resonate with her heart in a way that shows in her performances.
She may have gotten recognition from her role on a drama-dripping soap opera with a cast of actors who have no right to be as attractive as they are talented, but Longoria has proven she is so much more than a pretty face and a smile that could melt steel.
With wins from the Screen Actors Guild and the People's Choice, the actress is a familiar face who has been entertaining folks since the start of the millennium.
If this fantastic woman hasn't won you over yet, do a quick search of her to see how she brings thousands of dollars to charities and foundations that help impoverished communities and immigrants worldwide.

When TV academy voters sit down to fill out their 2024 Emmy nominations ballots, they have to consider 73 shows for Best Comedy Series; this is down by 22 contenders from last year. As was the case last year, each member’s selections may not exceed the number of eventual nominations in a given category, which will be eight in this case.
On its quest for a second consecutive victory here, “The Bear” will have to fend off just two of its seven 2023 rivals: “Abbott Elementary” and “Only Murders in the Building.” Last year’s remaining contenders that did not air episodes during the June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024 eligibility period are “Barry,” “Jury Duty,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Wednesday,” the last of which is the only one known to have a new season in the works.
Remember, only eight of the shows listed below will earn bids for Best Comedy Series...

Check out the intriguing new trailer for the series below;
Okay, first thing's first, where do we get a Sunny? Seriously, between this and the new The Wild Robot trailer, it's been a great week to be a bot lover. But also, this just looks great, both in terms of Apple's customarily eye-catching production values,...

Tribeca-selected short film “Bite,” written and directed by filmmaker Jorey Worb, is a reclamation of sorts. The 15-minute short is lush, well-acted by breakout lead Troian Bellisario, and captures a story known all too well by too many people, including writer/director Worb.
“Bite” centers on a woman who seeks treatment for jaw pain, or Tmj, and is assaulted by her dentist (Evan Arnold). The encounter leads to a reexamination of lingering Ptsd and a faux Marie Antoinette-esque courtroom scene that plays out as she debates whether or not to go to the authorities. With its poppy set design, reminiscent of “Promising Young Woman,” mixed with a “Girls” kind of millennial dialogue and Wes Anderson-inspired production design, “Bite” tells a #MeToo tale in a completely new and fresh way. The film is one of the many star-studded shorts premiering at Tribeca Festival.

Belt-tightening and cost-cutting continues across Hollywood as the Peak TV era has come to a close, and another legacy TV brand is being shuttered as a result.
Sony Television is shutting down its TriStar Television banner, which recently has been responsible for series like “Lucky Hank” (AMC), “The Afterparty” (Apple TV+), “On Becoming a God in Central Florida” (Showtime), “The Last Tycoon” (Amazon), and “Good Girls Revolt” (Amazon). In its heyday, TriStar TV produced and distributed “The Nanny,” “Mad About You,” and many more series.
A source says the decision is part of a larger shift around Sony Pictures Television’s boutique labels, not unlike the shuttering of the Gemstone brand several years ago, and that the hope is to weave all of TriStar’s values and goals into the bigger studio.

After a nine-year revival, Sony’s TriStar Television label, which was behind such series as The Afterparty, is being phased out again. Its two top executives, EVP Jennifer Turner, who ran the unit for the past two and a half years, and SVP Nicole Norwood, will be departing the studio. TriStar Television has no current series on the air. Its development slate will be taken over by Sony Pictures Television’s drama development team.
This marks the second such move of centralizing development under Katherine Pope since she became President of Sony Pictures TV in July 2022. The TV studio’s other boutique label, Gemstone, was folded into Spt in November 2022.

Sony Pictures Television is shuttering its TriStar TV banner.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that TriStar TV exec vp Jennifer Turner and senior vp development Nicole Norwood are leaving as the division is being folded into the larger Sony TV fold. No additional layoffs are expected to come as part of the move.
Reps for Sony declined comment.
The decision to absorb TriStar TV into the larger Sony Pictures Television fold comes at a time of industry-wide consolidation as streamers, networks and studios alike right-size their programming and staffing needs in an era of belt-tightening following the end of the Peak TV phenomenon.
TriStar TV’s mission was to champion diverse, authentic characters and underrepresented voices. Those values have since been incorporated into the larger studio, overseen by Katherine Pope, to whom Turner reported. Sony Pictures Television Studios’ drama department will now oversee the development of current TriStar TV projects.

"The killer... is one of us!" Republic Pictures has revealed a trailer for a murder mystery comedy called Reunion, from director Chris Nelson. This one is set for a direct-to-vod release in June this summer. After a murder at a high school reunion party, the remaining guests are trapped in a snowbound mansion, not knowing who to trust. They race to uncover which one of their old classmates is the killer before they're all iced out for good. Starring Lil Rel Howery, Billy Magnussen, Jillian Bell, Jamie Chung, Michael Hitchcock, Nina Dobrev, Chace Crawford. This just a movie version of that streaming series The Afterparty, which is already on Season 2. Looks extra cheap, and cheesy, and definitely something to skip over on the VOD options when choosing what to watch. // Continue Reading ›...

There are two types of people who enjoy crime dramas: some prefer their shows to be brooding and dark, the gorier the better, while others tend to enjoy the mystery element mixed with a heartwarming comedy. Elsbeth is a sure-fire hit for the second group, but it's not the only show you might want to check out.
Here are 8 other shows that will give you as much pleasure as Elsbeth without having to wait weeks to see a new episode.
White Collar (2009-2014)
Starring Matt Bomer as charismatic con man Neal Caffrey, the show follows his journey to become a great detective after getting out of prison in exchange for helping the FBI's White Collar Crimes Unit. The show is light-hearted, yet features some of the best crime cases you will ever see on television. Plus, there is a chance that it will get a reboot soon enough!

Are you ready to make your 2024 Emmy predictions for Best Comedy Actor? Before you do, be sure to scroll through our photo gallery showcasing the men who are most likely to earn slots in the 76th annual lineup. Naturally, “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White is widely expected to achieve a second consecutive victory and thereby maintain his perfect Emmys record.
White would be the fourth actor in 10 years to earn this specific award for both of his show’s first two seasons, following Jeffrey Tambor, Bill Hader, and Jason Sudeikis.
The only other 2023 comedy actor nominee in the running again this year is Martin Short (“Only Murders in the Building”). His costar and 2022 opponent, Steve Martin, is looking to make a comeback, as are six-time contender Larry David (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Jon Cryer, who won in 2012 for “Two and a Half Men” and now headlines “Extended Family.”

In “We Strangers,” Rayelle (Kirby) confesses to her mother (Tina Lifford) that she doesn’t have dreams. Perhaps she doesn’t have time for them, or else she’s simply too exhausted to hang onto anything else in her head after spending her days as a cleaning lady, monitoring her every move so as not to become any part of the mess she picks up for other people. Jaleel White has been named as host of The Flip Side, a brand-new syndicated game show from CBS that is scheduled to debut this fall. In the show, two teams of players attempt to determine the sentiments of two distinct groups regarding the same issue. Teams make their selections from multiple-choice answers, and the correct choice secures the pot. “I have had fun being a celebrity contestant on numerous game shows, but I’ve always really wanted to be the host, giving people money and making their day,” White said in a statement. “When I first heard this concept, I immediately wanted to be the ringleader of this entertaining, funny game show where the only requirement is being in tune with human nature.” Besides his dual role in Family Matters as Steve Urkel and Stefan Urquelle, White’s recent projects encompass Netflix‘s Hustle, CBS’ Me, Myself and I, and Apple TV+‘s The Afterparty.

CBS Media Ventures’ syndicated game show The Flip Side, hosted by Jaleel White, is set to launch this fall on CBS Stations. It is the first official syndicated greenlight for next season. Debmar-Mercury had previously announced a Ken Jeong talk show targeting next fall.
It has not been decided yet what stations and what time slots The Flip Side will run on as the CBS Stations have duopolies in most major markets. CBS Media Ventures’ The Drew Barrymore Show was recently renewed for next season on the CBS Stations.
“Game shows have been a bright spot in syndication — and network prime-time — the last few years,” said Wendy McMahon, President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures in making the announcement. “Their loyal viewers tune in more times per week than any other genre. We are excited to bring a fun concept, combined with the exceptional comedic skills of host Jaleel White,...

Casting turnover is the name of the game when it comes to the Law & Order franchise. Through 23 seasons of the flagship series (and not even to mention the many spinoffs), Law & Order has cycled through dozens of casting combinations in filling out both the “law” and “order” halves of its ensemble.
When Law & Order returned for season 21 in 2022 after a lengthy hiatus, it looked like it had a solid detective duo in place with Anthony Anderson’s Kevin Bernard and Jeffrey Donovan’s Frank Cosgrove. Now, just two years later both actors are gone. Anderson departed after season 21 and Donovan after season 22.
Law & Order season 23 pairs Mehcad Brooks’ Jalen Shaw (who replaced Anderson) with newbie Vincent Riley, played by recognizable face Reid Scott. If you’re wondering who Reid Scott is and what makes him a good fit for this crime drama, don’t worry – we’ve got the answers.

When Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse voice actors Hailee Steinfeld, Daniel Kaluuya and Shameik Moore took the stage to present best screenplay at the Golden Globes earlier this month, the trio claimed their intro had been written by studio executives.
But, instead, it was Spider-Verse writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller who crafted the memorably stilted dialogue, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
“We were really happy that they wanted to have Hailee, Shameik and Daniel present and present a prestigious award,” Lord tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I think it’s a nice acknowledgment that the cast of our movie is full of Oscar nominees. Hailee is an Oscar nominee and an Academy member. Kaluuya is an [Oscar] winner. And we wanted to make sure they looked great. It’s a fun show, but you want to make sure you don’t go up there and whiff on a bit. So I...
