- Ne'er-do-well Cornelius Kelly and his accomplice Alphonse kidnap Tattoo in an attempt to get revenge on Roarke for firing him years earlier; and orphaned siblings Mark and Rebecca want the chance to choose their own adoptive parents.
- The first of two "Sunday Special" episodes.
"Cornelius and Alphonse": Cornelius Kelly, a ne'er-do-well who once worked on the island till he was fired for chiseling, returns, bringing along a friend named Alphonse. Cornelius claims he is merely there for a vacation, but Mr. Roarke suspects there's more to it than that. Sure enough, Cornelius is out for revenge on Roarke, and with Alphonse's help, kidnaps Tattoo for ransom. However, Tattoo's not as helpless as it might seem. With a little assistance from his pals Chester the Chimp and Pepper the Parrot, Tattoo outwits and foils his hapless abductors at every turn, till Cornelius grows desperate and finally winds up making a deal with Roarke to pay him just to take Tattoo back! Inspired by The Ransom of Red Chief. "The Choice": Mark and Rebecca, two young orphans, accompany their caretaker, Miss Ewell, to the island with an unusual fantasy: the kids want to choose their adoptive parents, rather than the other way around. Roarke has found two hopeful couples who take the children on wonderful adventures. Rebecca and Mark have a lot of fun, but at the same time they are stymied as to which couple would make the more interesting parents. They realize that once they are gone, Miss Ewell will no longer have orphans to care for, as her orphanage is closing down, and begin to worry about what will happen to her. In the end, they tell Roarke that they want Miss Ewell herself to adopt them, for she has taught them so much that they value.
