One year after unveiling the ambitious project at Hong Kong’s Filmart project market, Philippine broadcaster-turned-content-producer Abs-cbn has started production on the crime thriller series The Bagman. The show began shooting in Manila on Feb. 25, according to the producers, and the project will be shopped to regional buyers at this year’s Filmart, which begins Monday.
The Bagman is a high-end TV spinoff of Abs-cbn’s popular streaming series Bagman, which ran for two seasons beginning in 2019 and was picked up by Netflix. Filipino actor Arjo Atayde (The General’s Daughter) is reprising his lead role as Benjo Malaya from the original show. John Arcilla (On the Job 2: The Missing 8, The Bourne Legacy) and Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo (Mindanao) also star.
The spinoff is said to have a significantly bigger budget, with ambitions to reach an audience beyond the Philippines. Abs-cbn’s producing partners on the title include Dreamscape Entertainment, Nathan Studios and Rein Entertainment.

With its list of new releases for July 2023, Prime Video is going to help you stay safe from the oppressive July sun.
Highlighting the Amazon Originals on the TV side this month are two heavy hitters. The first is The Horror of Dolores Roach on July 7. Based on a podcast of the same name, this series could best be described as a modern day Sweeney Todd? Why, you ask? Well you know why. Think about it. Then season 2 of Neil Gaiman adaptation Good Omens premieres on July 28. This season will follow angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tenant) as they seek to keep the Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) away from both heaven and hell.
There aren’t any Amazon Original movies of note this month and that’s alright as the influx of library titles is more than enough. July 1 sees the arrival of The 40-Year-Old Virgin, No Country for Old Men,...

Famed as an early Daniel Burman co-scribe and longtime Ad, Torres’ career dates back to the turn of the century, although he only saw his feature debut, “The Winter,” bow in 2016.
Seigner released her first feature in 2010, “Bollywood Dream,” though she is best known for 2018’s “Los Silencios,” a supernatural-laced refugee crisis drama.
Berneri, Torres and Seigner are joined at the Forum by prospective new titles from more seasoned filmmakers such as Chile’s Niles Atallah and Spain’s Helena Taberna.

Amazon Prime Video is ringing in the month of July with a smorgasbord of new titles, from “House of Gucci” (previously available to purchase or rent on Amazon Prime Video) to classic films like “Clueless,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “Yentl.” Apart from the Lady Gaga-starring crime drama, which becomes available to stream on July 2, most other titles will join the platform on July 1.
The streamer is also debuting a handful of Amazon originals this month. The comic book series adaptation “Paper Girls” will hit the streamer at the very end of the month. “Warriors on the Field,” a documentary about Indigenous players in the Australian Football League, premieres July 8. Indie drama “Don’t Make Me Go” and coming-of-age series “Forever Summer: Hamptons” debut July 15, followed by the Billy Porter-directed “Anything’s Possible” and the boxing feature “Prizefighter” on July 22.

Two is the magic number when it comes to Prime Video’s list of new releases for July 2022. While Amazon’s streamer is bringing many library titles to the mix this month, it has two original TV shows and two original movies of note.
Prime Video kicks off the month with The Terminal List on July 1. Though everything about that name screams “Movie” to me for some reason, the Chris Pratt-starring action property is actually a series. Pratt will portray James Reece, a Navy Seal who returns home after his team is ambushed on a covert mission only to discover that the threat might still persist. Then Prime Video closes out the month with Paper Girls on July 29. This adaptation of a Brian K. Vaughan comic is a sci-fi yarn about a group of young paper delivery girls confronting a temporal anomaly.

The clock is ticking on a number of noteworthy titles leaving Netflix this month.
Below, we’ve assembled a complete list of everything leaving Netflix in January 2022, and it includes quite a few films you may want to prioritize on your watchlist. Leaving Jan. 6 is “The Green Knight” filmmaker David Lowery’s quietly mesmerizing drama “A Ghost Story” starring Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara. Also leaving on Jan. 6 is Illumination Entertainment’s animated retelling of “The Lorax,” while Jan. 5 marks the exit date of all five seasons of the Matt LeBlanc comedy series “Episodes.”
But the highest profile departure this month is all five films in the “Twilight” franchise, which are due to leave the streaming service on Jan. 15.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for other films to check out before they depart, the Wachowskis’ epic “Cloud Atlas” and Martin Scorsese’s Leonardo DiCaprio-fronted psychological thriller “Shutter Island” both leave Jan.

With its list of new releases for November 2021, Netflix will attempt to bravely step into a post-Squid Game world. Helping it in that mission is a diverse array of original series and films.
On the TV side of things, it’s a good month to be animated with both Big Mouth and F is for Family premiering their fifth seasons (on Nov. 5 and Nov. 25 respectively). It’s the live-action version of an animated classic, however, that might be Netflix’s crown jewel this month. Cowboy Bebop premieres on Nov. 19 and based on the first trailer, it will maintain the spirit of the beloved anime. And speaking of big hits, Tiger King 2 is set to arrive on Nov. 17.

Another year, and another daunting challenge to keep up with the number of streaming options available from the big online players. And to mark January 1st, there’s some new content to enjoy on the likes of Netflix, Disney Plus and HBO Max, among others, as well as several notable changes in licensing agreements that may affect how you can watch your favorite shows.
On Netflix, the biggest fresh release is the third season of Cobra Kai, which has been a hit for the service since making the move from YouTube. Critics are already dishing out praise for the latest block of episodes of The Karate Kid spinoff, which had its premiere date bumped up by a week. Other highlights, meanwhile, include Netflix documentary The Minimalists: Less Is Now, and a lot of licensed movies ranging from Bonnie and Clyde to Goodfellas.

The first of the month is typically when the variety of streaming services on offer bolster their respective libraries with a mixture of original and pre-existing content, freshening things up for subscribers in the process. January 1st also happens to be the first day of 2021, though, so people might be expecting a little more than just a handful of new additions, and HBO Max are stepping up to the plate in a big way.
Of course, Wonder Woman 1984 is set to entice millions to sign up for Warner Bros.’ platform, especially when the entire slate of theatrical releases are also heading to the streaming site on the same day that they hit the big screen. And keen to capitalize on the inevitable influx of new customers, HBO Max is adding a massive amount of film and television titles on January 1st, with the onslaught set to continue over the next 30 days.

Another day, another remake. This time it's The Blob, which has been remade once (or twice) before. The original The Blob is a horror classic from 1958, and it was remade in 1988 into a just-as-good-if-not-better sci-fi thriller. Now they're working on yet another remake at Goldcrest Films with Simon West (Con-Air, The General's Daughter, The Mechanic, Expendables 2) attached to direct. If they want to keep everything nice and neat, this next one should debut in 2018 then it'll be 30 years between each remake. The latest news is that Samuel L. Jackson has been officially cast in the new film, playing a biochemistry professor. "I have been waiting to work with Samuel L. Jackson my whole career. He is a unique talent in the industry, definitely one of a kind. I am so pleased that we will finally get to collaborate on this project," said Simon West via press release. This new The Blob...

Simon West is to direct the remake of The Blob, and promises to use modern CGI to realise its potential...
To the people who had been requested a remake of The Blob? Someone out there, whoever you are, has granted your wish.
Producers Richard Saperstein and Brian Witten are behind this one, and they've hired Simon West to direct the movie. West remains best known for the mighty Con Air, although he's also directed the likes of The Expendables 2, The General's Daughter and The Mechanic.
Production begins this summer on the new film, which Goldcrest Films is backing. West has said, in a slightly worrying statement, that "with modern CGI we can now fully realise the potential of The Blob". Hmmm.

Throughout, West was generous, funny and full of great stories, and he didn't even mind when we brought up the subject of his music video for Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up - an 80s chart...

While a definitive release date has yet to be locked down, a poster and a collection of stills have debuted for the new Nicolas Cage thriller "Stolen" (formerly "Medallion," which made it sound like a negligible Jackie Chan movie), with the appropriately Nic Cage-y tagline: "12 hours. $10 million. 1 kidnapped daughter." We're not sure about the math, but we're certainly excited about the movie!
"Stolen" was written by David Guggenheim, who has sold a number of buzzy scripts in the past few months, including this past spring's drab Denzel Washington/Ryan Reynolds actioner "Safe House" and "Narco Sub," about a drug running via submarine that at least has a tenuous attachment from Tony Scott. "Stolen" concerns a former thief (Cage) racing to save his daughter who has been kidnapped and (wait for it) stashed away in the trunk of a taxi cab. Now we're cooking! "Stolen" concerns a former thief (Cage) racing to save his daughter who has been kidnapped and (wait for it) stashed away in the trunk of a taxi cab. Now we're cooking! ABC’s addictive, soapy, sexy series “Revenge” returns tonight at 10/9c, and we're excited to see what our favorite villain Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) has in store for Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and the other residents of The Hamptons!
In honor of tonight's sure-to-be scandalous episode, here are five things you didn't know about Madeleine Stowe, the Latina star of ABC's "Revenge!"
1). She Gives Back: "I've been doing work with an organization that serves 900,000 people [called Artists for Peace and Justice]," Stowe told The Huffington Post in January. "We've built the first free secondary school in Haiti and we're going to have 3,000 pupils there. It's the vision of a doctor who is a complete bad-ass Catholic priest [The Rev. Richard "Rick" Frechette]. I'm very devoted to them and it's the part of my life that fulfills me," she said.

Are you ready for a "romance adventure" project (haven't heard that in a long time) wrapped in a car racing movie to be directed by the action filmmaker currently shooting The Expendables 2? THR is reporting that Simon West, who also directed Con Air, The General's Daughter, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, The Mechanic and Nicolas Cage's Medallion, which was just retitled to Stolen, is in negotiations to direct the film Dust and Glory. Produced independently by Top Cat Media and Blue Star Ent., the story is set during the 1950s' REDeX trials, which covered over 10,000 miles of the toughest racing terrain in Australia, maybe the world. This actually sounds kind of cool, especially if West delivers some good action. Dust and Glory is described a cross between Mad Max and Jewel of the Nile. Here's some info on the real Redex trials down in Oz. The screenplay, by newcomer...

Despite the very unfortunate accidents involving the death of one stuntman and another in critical condition, 'The Expendables 2' is pushing through with production in Bulgaria. A couple of set photos have leaked out in the past, one featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Bruce Willis, and the other Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, and Terry Crews. This new batch of set photos -- which come from Movie Web -- are very Crews intensive. As usual, he's looking absolutely enormous. Amid the familiar crew, there's the first shot of Ufc veteran, Randy Couture on the sequel set. He reprises his role as Toll Road from the original 2010 smash-hit. Unlike most sets photos that have the actors snapped from a distance and in strange predicaments, everything about 'The Expendables 2' is posed for the most part. Those Bulgarian photographers must be extremely charming. Perhaps their aggressive American counterparts...

Arthritis, joint pain, Aarp… explosions.
These are the things that should be popping into your head (and the head of whoever insures the production) when you think of "The Expendables," Sylvester Stallone's sly nod to the cheesifying action films of his '80s heyday.
Last year's bone-crushing, bad-guy impaling trip down memory lane proved that wicked old action stars can still kick it like they used to as long as people dig seeing big, beefy Republicans punch and shoot at each other (we do). Now the inevitable sequel is coming down the pike, and according to The Playlist more aging icons may prove the easy accessibility of steroids.
John Travolta and Chuck Norris are the latest shuffleboarders to potentially cast their crutches to the side and strap on their Uzis for "The Expendables 2," which will begin lensing shortly in Bulgaria for an August 2012 release. They'll be joining surviving vets Stallone,...

A sequel to Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables" is happening for sure, but Sly is taking a step back from directing this time. His replacement for the action follow-up: Simon West, whose credits include "Con Air" and "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider."
Deadline says the film will kick off production this summer, and the original cast is expected to return. Sly's ridiculous film bagged $103 million domestically. West also helmed "The General's Daughter" and "The Mechanic." Who's excited?...

Simon West To Direct The Expendables 2
According to Deadline, Simon West just signed on to direct The Expendables 2, the sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s 2010 action pic. Not only did the geriatric-on-‘roids actioner warrant a sequel, but the pick of West comes after a long and laborious search. After Sly made it known that he would not be directing the sequel himself, a supposed list of top directors went into the vetting. West wins out, and it's far from bad news for the film. West has some great action pics under his belt, like Con Air, The Mechanic, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and The General's Daughter.
