Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez has been named in Mexico's World Cup squad.

Villarreal's Giovani Dos Santos, once of Tottenham, is also in coach Miguel Herrera's 23-man group.

Former Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez, 35, will captain the squad, which also includes former Fulham full-back Carlos Salcido.

Mexico are in Group A with Croatia, Cameroon and hosts Brazil.

As expected, Real Sociedad's former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela is not in the squad, having not played for his country since 2011.

Mexico coach Herrera had to make one change to his squad, with injured Club America midfielder Juan Carlos Medina being replaced by Toluca's Miguel Angel Ponce.

Goalkeepers: Jose de Jesus Corona (Cruz Azul), Guillermo Ochoa (Ajaccio), Alfredo Talavera (Toluca).

Defenders: Miguel Layun (America), Carlos Salcido (Tigres), Paul Aguilar (America), Andres Guardado (Bayer Leverkusen), Hector Moreno (Espanyol), Francisco Javier Rodriguez (America), Diego Reyes (Porto), Rafael Marquez (Leon).

Midfielders: Miguel Angel Ponce (Toluca), Jose Juan Vazquez (Leon), Luis Montes (Leon), Hector Herrera (Porto), Isaac Brizuela (Toluca), Marco Fabian (Cruz Azul), Carlos Pena (Leon).

Forwards: Oribe Peralta (Santos), Javier Hernandez (Manchester United), Giovani dos Santos (Villarreal), Raul Jimenez (America), Alan Pulido (Tigres).
