Alejandro Balde returns to Barcelona training after four months out

Some good news

Alejandro Balde was back training on grass on Tuesday as Xavi put his side through their paces after the 2-0 win over Real Sociedad.

The left-back was a welcome addition to the session as he takes another step closer to a full comeback after a long spell out injured.

Balde has been out since injuring a tendon in his right hamstring during the Copa del Rey clash with Atletico Club in January.

It seems unlikely he’ll play again for Barcelona this season, but it is good to see him closing in a return to full fitness.

Left-back will be an issue for Barcelona over the summer, with Marcos Alonso expected to leave when his contract expires.

Joao Cancelo is also not guaranteed a place in the squad for next season, leaving Xavi short of options apart from Balde.

All of which could be good news for Alex Valle. The teenager has been tipped to return from a loan with Levante and have the chance to fight for a place in the first-team squad for next season.
