PYW24: Week 8

The second Cincinnati Series was less fun than the first

Syndication: Arizona Republic Rob Schumacher/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

Hello again! Last week you were asked to provide a new version of the “Charge” chant that could make Arizona proud. There was a lot of congestion in the best answers, but that’s ok!

Tied for Second Place were AttracheKs and gzimmerm with 4 rec’s apiece.

It’s hard to imagine this not becoming super popular in the state and around baseball. It’s so simple, so elegant (credit Dano for those observations first), and so on brand for both the franchise and fanbase! Exemplary job AttracheKs!

I don’t know about y’all, but I can’t read this without attempting to put it into a chant I associate with the 1950s cheerleading. Maybe 1960s? It doesn’t quite fit what’s in my mind, but I’m sure we can find some cadence that works! Personally not the biggest fan of 40K people chanting D-Backs as I’ve grown very tired of the “I cAn’T bElIeVe YoU aLl CaLl YoUr TeAm D-bAgS” when I encounter opposing fans for the first time, but syllable-wise, it definitely fits better than Diamondbacks or Arizona! A worthy option!

But taking First Place is Dano_in_Tucson with this absolute gem!

I do my best to not read the comments section of my PYW posts until I compile the next week’s article so it’s a genuinely fun experience rather than tedious and no longer new! But man Dano you came thiiiiiiiiiiiis close to getting the coveted “Writer Rec” from me for making a solidly great answer and then including my friend’s actions as part of it - if I’d read this the day it was posted, you for sure would’ve received it! The Slither is 100% something the team should lean into!

The top of the leaderboard is starting to thin and create a true buffer for itself, but it’s still close enough that anyone could make their splash!

A long time ago, in a city far, far away Trevor Bauer received a bobblehead “commemorating” his unfortunate 2016 injury involving a drone (it was Reno in 2017 in case you’d forgotten).

Give me a giveaway idea for the Arizona Diamondbacks that adequately pokes fun at something from a player’s past: baseball or non-baseball related incidents both acceptable.
