Product Description

Nature's Coco Coir products are organic, bio-degradable, premium quality and very low EC (less than 0.5 ms/cm).
Very low level of EC is attained by repeated washing with fresh water.
Nature's Coco Coir is a premier growing medium and is an excellent alternative to sphagnum peat moss.
Our coco coir products are free from dirt, foreign material and weed seeds.
Applications include Hydroponics, Aquaponics, Commercial potting mixes, Home gardens and growers, Greenhouses, Direct soil amendment, Compost amendment, animal/livestock bedding, Reptile bedding, liquid absorbing compound.
We screen our washed raw material to remove dirt and bigger chunks to get perfect texture.
Directions for Use: Lay block down flat somewhere with full drainage. Slowly pour water over a block (1.25 liters of water for every 1 pound coir), allowing water to absorb without runoff. Let it sit for 30-40 minutes until it becomes light and spongy.
Each compressed 2 lbs block will yield upto 0.2 to 0.5 Cubic Feet after breakdown.
Nature's Coco Coir is imported from Southern part of India where Mother Nature has gifted the world's best coconut coir and plenty of fresh water to wash our coconut coir.

I use this product to mix in with other ingredients to make my advanced succulent soil mix. You add the coco brick to a really large bowl or bucket of clean water. Make sure you have a lot of space, because it swells up quite a bit. You want enough water to cover it, because the water needs to penetrate the brick. Then you start breaking the soggy outer layer apart with your hands, so that the dry part on the inside can get exposed to the water. If you have extra left over after soaking, you can leave it in an open bag so that the moisture can dissipate, to use later.

I then take some of the coir and mix it with a bag of succulent and cactus soil from the garden center. Then I add worm castings, pumice, perlite, sifted decomposed granite, and horticultural charcoal. My plants grow well in this combination. For a few plants that are highly prone to root rot, I may put them in something like a gritty mix, instead.

The secret to healthy plants is getting them big enough to where their root systems are well established, then they are less likely to have problems. When they are young and their roots are smaller, you have to pay more attention to creating growing conditions ideal for their survival.

Coco peat is another material I use - for my leaf propagation nursery trays. It is light and airy, a great place for tiny roots to grow, and to keep the soil from getting too soggy. The tiny plants that I grow on the peat grow better and faster than those that I put in soil. I also sprinkle some succulent fertilizer beads in there to add some nutrients. Coco doesn't provide any nutrients to plants.

Impressive and incredible mulch/soil/fertilizer that does the job of a 15 pound bag of regular mulch! The 10 lb. Nature's Coco Coir brick will perform like a 50 pound bag of regular mulch. I purchased 2 bricks of the 10 lb. product about a month ago. I opened both bricks, added water to them and distributed throughout my rose garden, tropical garden and parts of my lawn to revive patches of struggling spots of grass. ALL plants have thrived and are reacting very positive to the Nature's Coco Coir Brick. What is MOST IMPRESSIVE IS THE FACT THAT I'M USING LESS WATER! I am using less water on all plants because of the properties of the Nature's Coco Coir. It has the ability to RETAIN WATER! This is extremely important when living in a drought stricken area like California where I live. I plan to continue to buy this product because it really is a great alternative to the traditional large bags of mulch and fertilizer. I bought the 2 lb. bricks to supplement in my garden where I already laid down the Coco Coir. It would be great if they could start selling Nature's Coco Coir at Home Depot or Lowe's. It would be nice to have quick access to this product. Whatever the case, I highly recommend this product to anyone who cares about their plants, vegetables and gardens!

I’ve bought these bricks before but the paper on the inside needs to go, I took out the brick and the paper with the description was stuck to the brick and I couldn’t fully get it unstuck prior to hydrating the brick. I make my own soil however this for saving a few bucks wasn’t worth it and don’t like the possibility of getting contamination in a sterile environment. I threw away the bucket of hydrated coco fiber because little pieces of paper were apparent in my soil mix. I learned my lesson saving money by losing it.
