A win would be nice!

After a hot start to life under Daniele De Rossi, Roma has come crashing back to earth over the past month. Thanks to their deep run in the Europa League, Roma ran themselves ragged over the past several weeks, running through a Thursday-Sunday-Thursday-Sunday cycle as they simultaneously tried to take home the EL title while remaining in the race for a place in Serie A’s top five.

However, thanks to a combination of fatigue, injury, and the resulting dip in form, the Giallorossi have stumbled lately. They have dropped points in five consecutive matches, a stretch that included difficult tests against Napoli, Juventus, Atalanta, and Bayer Leverkusen. That descent nearly dashed Roma’s Champions League hopes, but they’re not entirely out of the equation yet.

The Giallorossi’s only path to Europe’s big dance is simple: finish in sixth place and hope that Atalanta can upset Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League finale, thereby granting Italy a bonus sixth Champions League place.

But first, they have to beat Genoa!
