2 November - UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova is to present the two laureates of the UNESCO Medal for the Development of Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies to Russian Academician Zhores Alferov (Nobel Prize in Physics in 2000) and Professor Chunli Bai, Executive Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, on 2 November in Room X at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, at a ceremony beginning at 10.30 am. This medal was established by the International Commission responsible for developing the theme on Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies for the Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS) published by UNESCO and EOLSS Publishers. The award of this medal has been supported by the Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO.
