Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... this page explains the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program, which is a Government Program to advance IT R&D in the United States. This article is not promoting a product or advertising goods, it is simply providing information about a Government Program in hopes that it will provide researchers and scientists, and the general public better information about the IT R&D activities within Government Agencies--Nitrd (talk) 21:00, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

It's written like something you'd find on the home page of the organization's own website. That's a no-no in Wikipedia, even for non-profit charities and government organizations. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 00:27, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... I am using my real username here. this page explains the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program, which is a Government Program to advance IT R&D in the United States. This article is not promoting a product or advertising goods, it is simply providing information about a Government Program in hopes that it will provide researchers and scientists, and the general public better information about the IT R&D activities within Government Agencies--Baranyad (talk) 21:13, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Yes, but it is still quite promotional, quoting its own virtues. And it needs much work to use normal English instead of being in the acronymic language of its members. For that matter, need sto clarify it is part of the United States government! This is not the US encyclopedia. W Nowicki (talk) 21:10, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Copy/Paste of Existing Document[edit]

The bulk of this article (Sections 1-6) has been duplicated—word-for-word—from pages 1-11 of http://www.nitrd.gov/PUBS/2013supplement/FY13NITRDSupplement.pdf (The Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program - Supplement to the President’s Budget FY 2013).

I understand this isn't a copyright violation as it's US government material, but does WP really need to mirror this doc? DoriTalkContribs 02:16, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

That's right. If the information is found on the agency's own website, then there's no need for Wikipedia to reproduce it verbatim, don't you think? -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 03:16, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Right, needs to be paraphrased into normal English in neutral language, and not use dated terms. W Nowicki (talk) 21:10, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
