Ned Chaffin and his family had a ranch on the San Rafael River near where it enters the Green in the 1930s and 1940s. They ran cows throughout the “Under the Ledge” country from 1920 to 1944, when Ned was in his teens to late twenties. This area is now part of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Canyonlands National Park, more commonly known as The Maze, The Doll House, Ernie's Country and Waterhole Flat.

The transcripts available here are from interviews at Ned and Marjorie Chaffin’s home in Bakersfield, California. Maze District Rangers Gary Cox and Cynthia Beyer conducted the interviews. These files requires Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing.
