The Stand Alone Complex game for the PS2 is actually quite good. It's as close to playing an episode of the TV series as you're gonna get.

Who thought it was a good idea to have a Pokemon Go event in the first place? The whole thing screams problems. For one, hundreds of people in one spot playing a F2P mobile game will strain cell towers to their limit, unless they had portable wi-fi hotspots which happened in one of the Comikets, there's no way that a Pokemon Go event will work well at all. Also, the park was way too small as well creating a dangerous environment, people could've been trampled to death.

Splatoon 2 is indeed great, but a heads up to anyone who intends to dive in soon: The single-player mode is a great deal more difficult than the first game's. The stages leading up to the first boss are merciful, but after that, the difficulty pretty much picks up where the first game left off, bosses included (the final boss of Splatoon 1 notwithstanding, which was much harder than anything else). The third boss of this game was quite a surprise to me, considering that spoiler[they brought back Octostomp, of all things, but they altered its attack patterns and defenses to fit it in line with the difficulty of everything around it.]

Also, "poisoned the well" was right...it's now harder for a crowdfunded game to reach its goals even if they know how to do it right, and there have been very competent developers of crowdfunded games. The thing is that most to all of the companies that do succeed are either non-professionals or have only made small indie games who are willing to work long hours with low pay and little to nothing in breaks and leisure (WayForward, Yacht Club, Lab Zero, Toby Fox, and Galaxy Trail come to mind). Lab Zero added Squigly to Skullgirls for $100,000. A company like Capcom or Arc System Works couldn't have done that for that little money.

At the very least, Niantic's people can now see firsthand the results of their very weird sense of priorities. Observing Pokémon GO and the people who play them, Niantic comes across to me as a company that has absolutely no idea what their players want due to a poorly constructed line of communication from consumers to staff while consistently underestimating a lot of crucial things. With this event, it sounds like they're getting a better idea of how to run the operation better.

Yeah, would have been cool if someone built off of that.

Just when Niantic thought their Pokémon GO Fest ordeal was over, they have been recently hit with a class-action lawsuit.
