I've never liked spoiler[prequels] or rather any kind of spoiler[blatant foreshadowing] especially when you know how the story will end UP. When a story confirms the main character spoiler[is alive] after all of that time, that's a complete buzz kill. It just saps away from the suspense and drama that leads UP to that brief look into the spoiler[future] of the story which episode 1 started with.
The rest I was happy to see though. I was never really all that interested in Naruto but I think I'll like Boruto. It's nice to be able to see characters grow from start to finish and see what kind of people or monsters they become. Konohamaru has grown into such a hottie though, lol. Be careful of who you make fun of in middle school. |

Um, this is incorrect? Denki's father, who claims his success is due to ninjutsu, wanted Denki to learn ninjutsu too whereas Denki had no interest. Denki only wanted to study ninjutsu after seeing how cool Boruto was using it. Anyway, I never finished watching Shippuuden and also skipped parts of the original Naruto series so I don't know how far I can get with Boruto but we'll see. (I did read all of the manga, one chapter a day for like 3 years via the official app.) So far the series is interesting enough. |

I think it's because this series will follow the movie, but I do hope it doesn't turn into the anime equivalent of a Disney direct-to-video sequel. I joked about that when I read the final chapter of Naruto, but I would really like to see Boruto go off in its own direction and distance itself from Naruto, both the character and the original series.
Well, I'm guessing the anime will retell the movie, in any case, making it the third time that story is told.
To be fair, most series will not do that to their protagonists, to where any story that does that will have the event become the story's biggest twist and its biggest spoiler. Didn't happen to Naruto. I wouldn't expect it to happen to Boruto. |

I was kind of upset that chapter 700 wasn't adapted, but then I thought with the Boruto movie, it wasn't really needed. After all, chapter 700 is just introductions and the movie already did that. So I'm OK with it. Overall I thought the episode was really good. I know the fandom has a considerable about of dislike for Boruto, but I can't help but like the kid. He has moxy. It's only the first episode and he's already showing just how much him and Naruto are alike; they both went out of their way to help people. Since these episodes take place when he's still in the academy, he and Naruto haven't come to an understanding yet, that's why he's still a brat.
Moving on, there's one part of the episode that has been boggled: spoiler[Boruto’s eye. I can't tell if it's a byakugan or a tenseigan. The tenseigan was already blue, and since him and his sister aren't full blooded hyuga, their byakugan, or more appropriately Himawari, are also blue.] I'm also curious about this Kawaki kid. Overall I think the episode was a great start to the series. |

It was a bit slow starting and a little bit fanficish to me but still overall enjoyable and I'm willing to give it a shot even though I haven't paid attention to Naruto in years. My big question though is spoiler[are they going to kill off Naruto?]

I wouldn't call myself a Naruto fan exactly (I watched the show up to sometime after the Zabuza arc, but would keeps tabs on the series every now and then; also enjoyed The Last movie and Boruto movie), but I enjoyed watching this first episode. I have to agree that spoiler[I really wish that they didn't have those whole "time-skip/ future" scene in the beginning of the episode. ]. Also found myself repeating that OP over and over again because of how visually nice it looks (and the song's stuck in my head now).
I actually like Boruto as a character more than Naruto, and I do hope that they don't bring in the old cast too much into the series. That is the one thing that worries me the most when it comes to "sequel" series. I do hope that we see spoiler[ Mitsuki(?)] in an episode soon.spoiler[Although, I am now wondering if they've already met Mitsuki at this point, or is this going to be a "we will show you how Boruto and Mitsuki met each other kind of situation. Unless that was covered in the manga already? ] |

Your first and last points contradict themselves, but yes, it's likely they'll re-adapt the movie in the anime because of how it concluded differently in the Boruto manga to the film. With what happened in this episode regarding Boruto's eye, that re-telling will be necessary for the plot to progress past the point of the movie and onward to the flash-forward we saw.
Chapter 700 wasn't adapted because it happens in the future, after Bourot graduates from the Ninja Academy. Seeing as we're starting off from before that point, it makes sense why the anime didn't start with that. As for what Boruto's eye is, the iris for a Bykaugan is naturally white, Boruto still has his original Blue eye so I don't think it's Byakugan. And Tenseigan is a perfected Byakugan so-to-speak, so I'm not sure on that either. Only time will tell I guess. |

Slow start but lets see how slow it will or will not be after a few more eps. Im guessing that theyll cover the movie just like how Dragonball Super did BoG and RF. Im also expecting the Sarada centered arc to be adapted too since it chronologically occurs before the movie

To the people taking issue with the story being a "how we got here" thing this is how the manga starts too.

Quite symbolic that they were fighting onspoiler[Naruto his mountain face]. Heck, they destroyed his spoiler[Hokage monument] twice this episode. It's like they want to kick him into the ground, visually.
Anyway it was a nice first episode - Cold open not withstanding. For the record, that first part also bugged me when I read the Original manga chapter. The unmastered art plus that glimpse into the future killed off all carried on momentum fron Naruto. Still, gonna give this a fair chance, at least they gave us new material instead of adapting th movie...again. Boruto start! |

I'm just happy to have a Naruto series where the protagonist doesn't spend all his time whining about how much he misses Sasuke.
Jokes aside, the setup in this series is pretty neat. I like the idea that Naruto, who was this bratty prankster in his youth, is now seen by his son as a dull, distant authority figure, someone to rebel against. Hopefully the new show avoids some of the writing problems that plagued the original series in its later years. Maybe it can even find a way to avoid falling into an endless pit of filler this time? |

I actually loved the opening scene. To me the flashforward is the only way you can open this show. One of the things i was really worried about was how you could keep people invested in a show post fourth great ninja war. The stakes were so high and your main protagonist became so overwhelmingly powerful that coming up with a new villan or even keeping it interesting could become a real problem.
Opening boruto the way it did immediately raises the stakes and lets you know that it isn't going to be gimmicky. Real things are going to happen and boruto will have to surpass his father to defend the shinobi world. Which a way diffrent dynamic than naruto, who didn't know his father and had to work from being a brat too earn the respect of the entire village. While boruto on the other hand has to live up too and surpass his father. Which are some big shoes to fill. Another thing i loved is that they revealed or even teased at a first villan during the first episode. I was very concered that we would have to go through 10 or so training episodes to make it to anything interesting. And i all of those during naruto, but i'd rather not have to wait 10 weeks before we fought anyone interesting. Overall i loved it and can't wait for more. If the series is anything like the first episode, we are in for a great follow up to arguably one of the best anime's of all time. (I've seen every episode at least 3 times at this point.....filler not included)[/spoiler] |

I never kept up to completion with the original Naruto series but other having to stop and google certain characters names. I really haven't had any trouble following the series. Animation wise some really nice stuff has been happening the use of the shadow clones in particular. And I also am looking forward to next week's episode although oddly enough Inojin Yamanaka has become my favorite of the secondary characters so far.
