Okay, I'm getting conflicted reviews here..

The person from animenow, said that the movie is spoilerly at best, but can still be enjoyable for anime only fans. While this review, states that's its inaccessible for anime only fans. So which is it? Well i will find out my self the 29th of next month anyway.

I of course have read and am caught up with the novels, so I'm curious about the movie as a whole and I want it to do good overall.

Also I want to point out that this reviewer is in the wrong about girls being shamed of showing to much skin in the mahouka world. This isn't true to be honest. For public decorum, sure its recommend to show less skin, but that's largely due to the planets ecosystem being cooled down dramatically during WWIII. Showing a little skin isn't a huge issue overall, like Mayumi's sundress or Erika's casual clothes during the NSC, where no one reprimanded them or cared to do so. The only reasons Mizuki was recommended to change by Miyuki was due to the fact that her outfit was a little to provocative and with Mizuki being her shy/slightly introverted self would gather a lot of unwanted attention.

I'm surprised if the visuals are lacking. I've always felt Kana Ishida's design style just isn't suited for animation. But the fact feels like it says something, considering how they switched studios.

So in short, there's been some progress, but even now the production staff still hasn't figured out the best way to animate Mahouka? Man, script writing is hard.

Thank you for the review.

Couldn't someone read summaries of the novels sure it's not the same as actually reading them but you'll have an idea of what is going on. Yes the series can be dry with it's world building but I actually think that's part of it's charm.

Thanks for the comment. I don't think Kana Ishida's designs are to blame for any poor animation. She herself is an animator and has had prior experience adapting character designs for anime (for example, she adapted Oreimo's character designs). I also don't think that the switch to another studio was necessarily the reason, as the production retained many of its core staff. Also, please remember that this is my subjective impression of the animation. I'm harder on it because it's a film and I expect films to look better than TV shows, but replicating the look and feel of the TV series may have been the intention of the staff.

The TV series was never very strong visually

I think many will disagree...

Come to think of it, you're right. The issue isn't really with the animation, I guess? I still think the visuals in the TV series could have been much stronger.

Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to it.

I always found it strange that Jesus came back as a Japanese highschool boy.
