Manga creator Umetarō Saitani is currently serializing Honjitsu no Burger (Today's Burger), a food-centric manga about a man who has traveled the world over eating various cuisine for his job at a food specialty trading company. He then decides to set up a hamburger restaurant utilizing his experiences.
Japan's Village Vanguard Diner is taking inspiration from the manga for a new menu item starting on May 15. The restaurant will introduce a Sloppy Joe burger, but it's much more glamorous than the usual saucy ground hamburger meal. Topped in crumbled blue cheese and marinated in a special chili sauce with garlic chips, the restaurant promises a more mature flavor.
The manga runs in Houbunsha's Weekly Manga Times magazine. The publisher will release the fifth compiled volume on May 16.
