The Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE is the parliamentary dimension of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, whose 56 participating States span the geographical area from Vancouver to Vladivostok.
The primary task of the 320 member Assembly is to facilitate inter-parliamentary dialogue, an important aspect of the overall effort to meet the challenges of democracy throughout the OSCE area.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly held its fifth Economic Conference in Andorra la Vella, Andorra, 24 to 26 May 2007.
At the invitation of the Consell General (Parliament) of Andorra, nearly one hundred parliamentarians from over 30 OSCE countries participated in the conference, which was inaugurated by the President of the Andorran Parliament, Joan Gabriel I Estany and PA President Göran Lennmarker. The Prime Minister of Andorra, Albert Pintat, also addressed the participants.

"These elections were a clear improvement and that is good for Armenian democracy", said Vice-President Tone Tingsgård, Special Co-ordinator of the OSCE short-term election observers deployed for the 12 May elections in Armenia. In a press conference in Yerevan on 13 May 2007, Mrs. Tingsgård announced on behalf of the OSCE that the elections were conducted largely in accordance with OSCE commitments, although some issues remain to be addressed, she said.
"Now, more work is needed to further consolidate this young democracy. That will require joint effort and will by all political forces. I hope we will see that happen in the years ahead", said Mrs. Tingsgård.

Minsk, 15 March 2007 - The parliamentary Seminar, a joint venture between the OSCE PA and the Belarusian National Assembly, was a one-day event in Minsk, held at the Belarusian National Library in Minsk. The Seminar drew attention to a variety of views from within the European Union, including new EU Member States and neighboring countries, as well as a variety of views from within Belarus.
"The topic of our joint Seminar represents an issue of vital interest to Belarus and all its citizens. We hope this to be the first of a series of steps to be taken by Belarus to review its relationship to European standards and its own OSCE commitments" - commented Ms. Zapf, Chair of the OSCE PA Working Group on Belarus.
