Tyra Banks is returning to host “America’s Next Top Model,” Variety has learned.

When “America’s Next Top Model” moved to VH1 from the CW for its most recent season, Banks — who created the reality competition show — remained an executive producer and appeared on the show, though Rita Ora served as host.

VH1’s new season of “Top Model” will begin production on a new season this summer.

“I’m overwhelmed and humbled by the intensity of the ‘ANTM’ fan base whose deep affection for the show led me to have a change of heart. After giving it a lot of thought, I realized that remaining behind the camera wasn’t enough because ‘ANTM’ is woven into my DNA,” said Banks in a statement.

Tyra has always been the heart and soul of the franchise and her absence was deeply felt by our fiercely loyal fans who missed their Queen of the Smize,” said »

Ryan Murphy is at it again.

The mega-creator behind “American Horror Story,” “American Crime Story” and the just-launched “Feud” is working on yet another anthology series at FX, titled “Pose,” Variety has confirmed.

FX declined to comment on the project.

“Pose” is a period piece set in the mid-’80s in New York City, examining the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in Manhattan: the emergence of the luxury Trump-era universe, the ball culture world, and downtown social and literary scene.

Created by Murphy, who would also direct the first episode, “Pose” will be co-written by Brad Falchuck and up-and-coming scribe Stephen Canals. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, the Emmy-winning duo behind “Crime Story” who recently inked an overall deal with FX Productions, will also serve as executive producers.

Casting is currently underway, according to Deadline, which first broke the news, though the site reported that the project has been ordered to a series and »

Fox’s new limited drama “Shots Fired” continued its series of special screenings on Thursday night at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. The post-screening panel included creators and executive producers Gina Prince-Bythewood, Reggie Bythewood, and Francie Calfo, and cast members Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Tristan “Mack” Wilds, Stephen Moyer, Aisha Hinds, DeWanda Wise, and Conor Leslie. L.A.-based pastor Touré Roberts moderated the proceedings.

The Bythewoods’ teenage son, Cassius, was the inspiration for the 10-hour series, which is based on the aftermath of an officer-involved shooting. When a jury acquitted George Zimmerman of the killing of Trayvon Martin, Cassius was inconsolable. Reggie Bythewood said, “As I saw tears well up in his eyes, I fought the urge to tell [Cassius] everything would be alright. ‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’ Review: Season 1 Lacks Punch, Proves Incredibly Skippable

36 minutes ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

The problem with “Iron Fist” can be identified right from the very first moments — specifically in how its opening credits sequence compares to the other series in the Netflix/Marvel universe. “Daredevil’s” eerie viscous drippings reveal the various conflicting forces in Matt Murdock’s life — justice versus action. “Jessica Jones” is a moody stroll through Jessica’s New York, haunted by her demons. And the landmarks of Harlem ripple across “Luke Cage’s” body as he delivers a hell of a punch.

Here’s what happens in the “Iron Fist” opening sequence: A dude does kung fu. It’s mystical kung fu, clearly, and he starts off doing the kung fu in a forested area before eventually ending up in a city. But it’s a dude doing kung fu. And over the course of Season 1, that ends up feeling like all the show has to say.

‘Black-ish,’ ‘Insecure,’ and Others Aren’t Just ‘Black Shows,’ As Nielsen Study Proves

49 minutes ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

As the nation becomes increasingly divided, a small piece of encouraging news comes from, of all places, Nielsen: A new study shows that several programs predominantly African-American casts also boast a large percentage of white viewers.

The new roster of diverse series that have found cross-cultural appeal include ABC’s “Black-ish” and HBO’s “Insecure.” Around 79% of the”Black-ish” audience is non-black, while the “Insecure” audience is 61% non-black.

Black-ish” is a huge hit for ABC: It stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross as parents of a growing family who struggle to create a sense of black identity for their kids while living in a wealthy, predominantly white neighborhood. “Insecure,” created by Issa Rae and inspired by her web series “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl,” is about a young African-American woman in Los Angeles, her friendships, and how it’s sometimes hard to make the right decisions.
