The Last Jedi - Teaser

WOW!

The teaser for The Last Jedi just landed and… wow. I’ll say this, 17 years ago I spent a LOT of time at the message boards on TheForce.net. We heavily debated the meaning of ‘bringing balance to the force’. How that prophesy was dangerous and how Anakin actually did bring balance by slaughtering Jedi, and how at the end of ROTS there are two Sith and two Jedi.

Balance doesn’t mean killing Sith, it means, evening out Sith and Jedi out so they are in check.

So at the end of this trailer, when Luke says “It’s time for the Jedi to end.” He means that to save the galaxy, there can be no more Jedi. If there are Jedi, there will be Sith, and the galaxy can’t handle that any longer. I bet that’s why he was in hiding.

MAN, I do not want to wait until December to watch this movie. On top of Rian Johnson being my favorite working director, making a film in my favorite franchise, I want to know if I was right 17 years ago!

Ludacris Recaps Every Fast & Furious Movie In 8 Minutes

I had the pleasure of consulting on this video. It’s great! And if you’re new to Fast and the Furious, this is a great recap.

Spider-Man: Homecoming - Tailer

I have written a LOT about Spider-Man over the years. Excitement, disappointment, joy, sadness, concern… you can find a range of emotions if you look at #spiderman on this blog.

We can add a new adjective to now: smile-inducing. This trailer made me smile. It made me smile in every possible way. Peter is good and happy and his interaction with his high school friend seemed natural (albeit brief) and MAN Tony taking away the suit is also fantastic. It makes Peter have to earn becoming Spider-Man without Stark’s tech. To (dare I say) learn power and responsibility, without it being a gift.

And Michael Keaton as Vulture has presence. He has presence and a mission not seen in a Spider-Man villain since Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2. The best villain aren’t bad for the sake of being bad, they just have rival ideology. Give a villain a mission and real motivation and it’s so much more powerful. It’s why Magneto works so well. With just a few lines of dialogue it certainly seems like Vulture has all that.

I love this trailer on every level. And I probably wont watch any more before the movie comes out in July.

This is my Nintendo Switch to go kit!

Am I missing anything? What does yours look like?

Nintendo Switch - Super Bowl Ad

Above is Nintendo’s first ever Super Bowl ad. They really look to capture the fun everyone had with the Wii but also show how you can do that, everywhere. Honesty, it’s sold me.

I fell asleep the night of the livestream and haven’t been able to pre-order a Switch (I do have email alerts set up for Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy). But MAN do I want one.

starwars:

It’s official. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is the next chapter of the Skywalker saga. In theaters this December. http://www.starwars.com/news/the-official-title-for-star-wars-episode-viii-revealed?cmp=smc%7C785924868

MY GOODNESS! Episode VIII has a title!

Boy does this set the stage for what is a front runner to be my favorite movie of all time (Star Wars + My Favorite Working Director).

Logan - Trailer 2

The more I see of Logan the more I love it. I do wish it was set in the far future, where everyone Logan knew is dead, but c’est la vie.

I had a theory that  Professor X was just a figment of Logan’s imagination. Something that’s keeping him going in his old age (if it were the far future, and if logan were 150 years old) but things don’t seem to be turning out that way.

I love the way this movie feels. And I love the constant misdirection that is ‘everyone wants Logan’. He wasn’t the one that Magneto wanted in X-Men 1, He wasn’t the one that Striker wanted in X2, he was sent back in time in DOFP because he was the only one that could, but it was Kitty who had the power to send him… and now, the hunted one isn’t Logan but X23.

The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild - Trailer

Whelp, this was enough to sell me a Switch. AND I CAN TAKE THIS WITH ME ON THE TRAIN TO WORK WHICH IS BONKERS!

Nintendo Switch

March 3rd! $300!

Nintendo had an event last night that I … didn’t watch because I fell asleep. Sorry. I’m watching it now and if you missed it you can see it here.

I’m torn about the price. While it’s true that Nintendo are not really trying to compete with Microsoft or Sony in play style… (Xbox and PS being more ‘traditional’ consoles, while Wii, Wii U, and Switch are far from that) I think they should have tried to be more competitive on price. You can get an Xbox One S for 299. If Switch came in at 249, they would have blown the doors off this system.

But at the same time, I don’t see someone saying ‘should I get a Switch or a PS4′. They probably already know. The Switch will allow you to take games on the go, and connect them to a TV. If you want that, there is only one option. So why not match the price of the other guys. Also, this thing is going to be sold out all year (in all likelihood) so why not charge as much as you can now, and drop the price later.

March 3rd, though. It’s very soon, and I’m really excited.

This video is rad.
