I literally was just questioning today about when the Pumpkin Carving Contest for this year would start and lo and behold!
Good to see it back. =) |

Yes! I've been waiting for this confirmation. I guess I'll have to study extra hard for my next exam this upcoming week so that I can use this next weekend to work on it. While I do like the idea of getting to vote, I do worry that many may simply vote for pumpkins with anime they like or not vote for anime they dislike without considering the artistry put forth on it. Hopefully, this concern will be unwarranted.

titan was the absolute first thing that popped into my head. im sure there will be several, so may have to get a little creative.
voting is always a bit of a crap shoot. I've never trusted the wisdom of the masses much and if the prizes are as nice as in prior years the first thought some people will have is how to cheat the system. Time will tell. thanks fro bringing the contest around again this year. |

I was worried about people cheating too, but I'm sure that they will implement something along the lines of "You must be a member with X amount of activity to vote" so that people don't just muster up a bunch of friends because the prizes are super great.
Im so excited, I enter every year even though im not that great |

I'll try to post them as they are submitted. |

those are some pretty mad carving skills. but tracing the drawing on the pumpkin...mmm, oh well each has their own strengths. i will have been more impressed if he had free handed the drawings on the pumpkin.

Finally got my entry done, and with a few days to spare. That never happens...maybe I'll make a second pumpkin just for fun.

Tried sculpting the pumpkin this year instead of carving. I actually liked it better this way. I felt a lot freer when it came to making the pumpkin because I had to shape and add detail instead of using light and negative space. After waiting 5 hours to get my car fixed for something simple, I really needed something that was fun instead of feeling time consuming. |

Finishing up my entree. Considering I've never carved a Pumpkin in my life before, this should be interesting. Not sure how it's working out, yet, but... the pumpkin part went well. Now, it's all about how I paint it...
It's a shame that we have a bad storm coming in the midst of this rain all day. That'll ruin Halloween this year, for sure, and there's no way I'm putting THIS pumpkin in the rain. I did just come up with the idea last night... [EDIT] I... I... I... I finished it...! ;w; |

Here's a question: I entered my pumpkin in the contest last night. Will there be a way to know if the entry was was successfully submitted? Or should I just wait until current entries post is updated? This is my first time entering the contest so that's why I'm asking. |

The Legends Behind Noragami
anime
Noragami has captured the imagination of anime fans everywhere, but the show's mystical references can be a little dense. Here's your complete guide to the world of Japanese folklore, mythology, religion and customs that define Yato's world.
― With its second season almost over, Noragami has quickly established itself as one of the most beloved new anime of the past few years. As it follows the adven...
Fullmetal Alchemist Blu-Ray Collector's Edition
anime
The 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist series left a smoking crater in anime fandom, and now it's out on bluray in a superdeluxe $300 limited edition. Hope Chapman revisits this modern classic and cracks open that pricey box.
― Few anime have had the opportunity to leave a thumbprint on pop culture the size of Fullmetal Alchemist's. Upon first airing on Cartoon Network's adult swim block in 2004, FMA became a ...
Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire GN 5
manga
Resident Evil 6's prequel manga ends after five tense (and intense) volumes, and while the finale may work better for those who know the game, it's still a pretty good horror series.
― You have to appreciate a manga series where you can read each volume in roughly twenty minutes because the action just moves that fast. Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire has been one of those series for all of its five...

Naruto Shippuden Uncut Set Volume 24
anime
Gaara confronts his resurrected father in this decidedly uneven collection of Naruto Shippuden episodes from the Fourth Ninja World War.

Answerman - How Does Old Anime Get Remastered?
anime
Older anime shows are coming in out in HD at a remarkable clip, but how do these shows go from dusty and neglected to sparkling and new for the bluray treatment?
― Julian asks: So I know a couple people who like to collect old animation cels, and I've read before that materials get lost or destroyed so that when it comes time to re-master a show they have to use old releases (see the new Eva BD). My...

anime
This week it's all fighting and explosions as Black Lagoon and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F get full reviews, along with a complete list of this week's new anime releases!

Black Lagoon: The Complete Series Premium Edition Blu-Ray
anime
Black Lagoon offers plenty of highlights for fans of ultraviolence, though those looking for something more may find its serious drama too little too late.
― It's no surprise Black Lagoon has maintained such an enduring reputation among action fans. Even on the level of base premise, the show presents something fresh and exciting - a multinational cast of smugglers and thieves terrorizing the souther...
Idol Dreams GN 1
manga
Arina Tanemura reworks the magical girl story into something for an older audience with the story of a thirty-one-year-old woman who wishes she could change the past.
― Most of us can probably remember a time in adolescence when we made a choice at a metaphorical fork in the road. Do you regret yours? Chikage Deguchi does, and she has carried the memory of the boy she let get away in her heart, conti...
