That's a somewhat... misleading way to look at it. In Feudalism, the nobility owned all the wealth and controlled the government. They used the government to keep wealth in their hands. In early modern-democracy (as opposed to the republics of antiquity), the wealth was re-distributed from the rich to the commoners. In modern day, socialists believe that the government should redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor. Libertarians believe that the government should not reallocate wealth. Both sides could easilly claim that it is the other side that is similar to the feudal period, but for different reasons. Of course, they'd both be wrong... and completely blind to the way the rich try to control all the political platforms to keep the wealth right where it is... in their hands. -t |

No no, let them cry. Their tears only make the Scotch taste that much sweeter. Forgot to say this before but I enjoyed the little survey. It was a fun little way to pass 1 or 2 minutes. |

Damn, why'd I have to miss this poll
Pretty funny stuff. Also really interesting to see what the numbers are. I've always known that there were more lefts than rights around here, but it's interesting to see what the actual proportion is. |

Can someone help me out here because I'm confused about some things. Why was there a survey on the political leanings of the people who post here? Yeah,I lean towards the conservative side of things but why is it necessary to know that? I have very little desire to advertise that. And,why is it necessary on a website dedicated to anime and manga? I'd like to think people of any political affiliation can enjoy and comment on this site regardless of politics.
Some time ago,I wrote a post called "Being PC on ANN." It was about my fears about political correctness inching it's insidious way on to a place where it really wasn't wanted. I don't know why whoever it was started this thread, but I just wanted him or her know that there are conservatives on this site, even if one of them thinks this sort of thing was unnecessary. I'm hopeful that someone can clear up my confusion because, well,I just think that Anime News Network should have little to do with politics as much as possible. |

Have you read this thread in its entirety? Have you viewed the poll results? Are you aware that Haruhi Suzumiya was the preferred president among voters on the ANN poll? In other words, it was for fun. Hope you voted. |

Are people so fond of Macross Plus in your native land that you create idioms in homage to it? |
