I never expected Hatoful to be reviewed here. It's a very nice review, although... you really have to put the spoilers there, do you?
(also slight mistake on Yuuya's name being written as Yuuta, but it's ok.) And I'm just gonna put the info of the creator, Hato Moa, also worked on 4panel manga of Hatoful Boyfriend, and she also has a tumblr account where she usually answer questions regarding Hatoful and her work in general. (She understand English too, so everybirdie don't have to be hesitant to ask!). I first played this game around last year, and I played it for laugh, but when I reached the BBL route I certainly was fixated on it. It's something I would've never expected from a game full with pigeons. Highly recommended for people who wants new experience. |

Angie Gallant's Let's Play kept me riveted for an evening, that's for sure. BBL takes the absurdity of the rest of the game and manages to tie those random nonsensical bits into a coherent story, that's quality writing. I'm really glad Hatoful Boyfriend is out on Steam now.

I'm so obsessed with this game right now, it isn't even funny. I was pretty impressed by the content in it. Now, the problem is convincing my friends I'm not nuts and that the pigeon really is fabulous.

I would feel completely different about the game if it wasn't for Angel's route and the True Ending.
Those two routes changed eeeeeeverything. But seriously, if it was just a one-joke gimmick game, it'd be different. It's the jaw-dropping commitment to the concept in the final routes that make it something different altogether. |

Definitely an odd game to review, but I suppose the oddity/gimmick will deliver some clicks.
Would love to see a Planetarian review if VNs are open game now on ANN. |

"We just don't know." *DING!*
Seriously, I need to give this game a shot. I'll admit I've had the whole thing spoiled thanks to TV Tropes, but I need to experience it myself. :3 |

I bought this after reading Rock Paper Shotgun's review, and finished up BBL tonight.
It's good... Really good. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. There are a few things that I didn't like (individual routes being rather short, having to go back to get the incomplete endings in order to unlock the epilogue) but for the most part, it was a very enjoyable experience. |

Can't wait to read it, Planetarian is great! I've also heard that Hatoful Boyfriend was unexpectedly good and it's been on my to play list for a while. Glad to see the reviewer agrees. Unfortunately I'm reading/playing Umineko now so it'll be a while before I get to any other VNs... |

The List - 8 Dubious Anime Dub Opening Songs
anime
There once was a magical time in anime dub history where North American anime licensors dubbed over Japanese opening and ending songs. These eight songs represent the very worst the English anime song genre has to offer.
― Lynzee Loveridge is on a short hiatus, so this week we're reprinting a classic List. New columns will return next Saturday! There once was a magical time in anime dub history wher...
UQ Holder! GN 4
manga
UQ Holder finally finds its feet in this volume, demonstrating far more drama, fun, and creativity than ever before.
― I knew this manga was worth believing in. In spite of its lackluster early volumes, I knew Akamatsu had it in him to make a truly satisfying shounen manga, one that demonstrated all the passion and creativity that occasionally glimmered through in Negima. It's taken a while, but UQ H...
The Real Legends of Magi: The Kingdom of Magic
anime
The next season of the Arabian Nights-flavored action-adventure hit Magi is on the way to Netflix; learn the folkloric history behind the show's heroes and get a refresher on seasons past.
― The Arabian Nights' Entertainment. 1001 Nights. Whatever you call it, the collection of Middle and Far Eastern folklore collected around the 13th century in Persia (now Iran) has had impressive reach in all corne...
ALDNOAH.ZERO Blu-Ray 4
anime
ALDNOAH.ZERO tries just a little too hard to wrap everything up in a bow in these last six episodes, and while it works, it lacks any major impact.
― I very rarely say this, but in the case of Aldnoah.Zero, I firmly believe it: the show should have ended after episode twelve. While it would have been a depressing ending, it also would have made a point and kept its characters fairly interesting and r...
The X Button - Interview: Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
anime
This week: Star Ocean producer Shuichi Kobayashi talks sequels, scandalous attire, and Valkyrie Profile! Plus Let it Die, Nier: Automata, and a dangerous new direction for games.
― Welcome to another edition of the X Button. I must interrupt your regularly scheduled Valkyrie Profile updates for some news about Sony's new PlayStation 4. Yes, some solid rumors point to Sony releasing an upgraded versi...
C³ BD+DVD
anime
C3 is a surprisingly entertaining take on some well-worn action-fanservice territory.
― Released five years ago now, C³ was one of Silver Link's earliest productions, before they were renowned for… well, making a whole lot of shows exactly like C³. The show falls in the timeless “action-fanservice adaptation themed around torture/bondage gear” subgenre, which has more recently featured the legitimate...
Why We Love Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
anime
Fans have clamored for a Phoenix Wright anime for years - the one we finally got left a little to be desired. Jacob Chapman explains what makes the game series so special... and why the anime might not stack up.
― This spring, after over a decade of waiting and hoping, Phoenix Wright fans finally got the TV anime adaptation they always wanted. Well, sort of. After the first episode of A-1 Pictures's...
Review: The Empire of Corpses
anime
In select theaters now, The Empire of Corpses succeeds as a rip-roaring adventure story, even if its philosophical pretensions aren’t quite up to snuff.
― The easy, almost foolproof way of testing your appetite for The Empire of Corpses would be to ask: are you a fan of The League of Extraordinary Gentleman (the comics, not the film)? Does that kind of turn of the century steampunk aesthetic entice y...
