No. I also liked it. It is an inconsistent show, but it is not that bad. |

I'll never understand the hate that Captain Earth gets. Is it a phenomenal show? By no means. But it's still well made despite its flaws. The animation, character designs, and music are all fantastic. I even like the mecha designs.
I feel like one of the reasons it gets so much flack is probably because of the technobabble. Sure there's a lot of it, but if you pay enough attention it makes sense. Despite the fact that I like the series, I do like some of the suggestions that were proposed. The Gears would have made more interesting protagonists and it could make you question if what they are doing is the right thing or if the Earth Defenders are in the right. This would have been an interesting idea, but I still like Captain Earth, the flawed show that it is. Funny enough, the more people hate on it, and complain, the more I want to buy it. Considering I'm a huge BONES fan who has seen almost all of their shows and owns half of them, I'll be buying this in the future. |

I actually really like the main character in captain earth. He's not an indecisive twat who's constantly being told what to do by other, he takes his own action, has personal motivation and doesn't mope around. Most importantly, there's no arc where he run away to cry in a corner and refuse to his giant robot in the face of annihilation. Sadly, everything else about the show is devoid of anything interesting, like was covered in the review, the antagonist are especially bad since we spend so much time with them and they just come off as sexually frustrated team rocket.
As for SNAFU, I think I tried to get into it like 2-3 time, I really like everything that was said about the show, especially how it seems more grounded in reality, without big bad guys. Ultimately the problem is that the main character are thoroughly unlikable people and I really agree that hitting with baseball bat is pretty much all I think about whenever there on screen. Could not agree more with the Captain Earth review. One of the biggest letdowns for me ever, since I loved Star Driver. It just felt like a lot of nothing going nowhere. On just a robot-action level, we barely see the Earth Engine get up to much, and when it does, good god was it boring. By comparison, Star Driver had a a great robot fight nearly every episode, and the animation and choreography were almost always stellar. Here's hoping this duo gets their mojo back on Bungo Stray Dogs.
Also kudos to the Patlabor love in that Shelf Obsessed! |

My friend and I agree that Captain Earth is the weakest show we've ever seen from Bones. Quite the letdown.
I even remember the exact conversation we had when I said that I wasn't that interested in picking the show up during week one of the season it aired in. He basically told me, "It'll be great! Bones doesn't make bad shows". Well, now they have. I pretty much agree with everything in the review. The characters were boring and the story was boring. There was nothing fresh or new and there was never any deeper introspection on some of the more interesting themes or subplots. I also agree that there are some potentially interesting things that got buried very quickly by the show. Somewhere in here, there is the potential for a solid show, but Captain Earth certainly doesn't hit that mark. On the other hand, SNAFU is awesome! Highly recommended even for people who don't normally like this type of show. It is absolutely not a silly romantic comedy, it is more of a wickedly clever character study. |

Comic book artist and his assistants is a pretty funny show. I would have to guess a none harem individual did the review because otherwise I don't see how it would get panned. | ||||

Ah, Captain Earth. The show that was so poorly made that the responses in this thread are the most praise it's ever had.
None of which have anything to do with character development, atmosphere/tone, narrative/story, direction, themes and plot. In other words, anything that actually matters. |

Review: Tamako Market Blu-Ray
anime
Tamako Market may not reach the heights of its director’s previous work, but is still a polished and endearing effort.
― Tamako Market is a less-storied entry in the Kyoto Animation canon, but certainly not for lack of talent. The show represents the reunion of director Naoko Yamada and series composer Reiko Yoshida, the team responsible for the blockbuster hit K-On!, its sequel, and its indulgent bu...
