When I search for a person by name in the site search box, their entry does not show up anymore. (It used to, usually as one of the top hits.)
On the search results page, all I get on the "All" tab is the most recent news entries featuring that person. If I click on the "Encyclopedia" tab I see shows that person is listed in, but not the person's entry itself. For example, a search for "Ayane Sakura" results in some news entries and forum listings on "All." If I click on "Encyclopedia," I see the show entries for Love Lab and Vividred Operation... but no Ayane. I have been working around this by clicking on a random entry that lists the person then finding and clicking on their name, but this is obviously not ideal. |

Why would you use the site-wide search to search for an encyclopedia entry? Why not use the separate encyclopedia search?

..because it is easiest to enter something in the box at the top of the page and press the enter key like I have for years.
I've been noticing the same thing recently myself. |

^^;
I set up chrome to have it in my search bar. "ann [terms]" searches ANN, and "annenc [terms]" searches the encyclopedia. My firefox has it in the drop-down, too... I always forget that there's still an on-site search. |

The staff pointed this out to me recently.
Google Seems to have changed it's search algorithm (again), and it is favoring non-encyclopedia results less than encyclopedia results in this kind of search. The strange thing is that when you do a general Google Search (not ANN specific), our encyclopedia is in the top results, but when you do a site specific search, either from our search bar, or from google itself, the encyclopedia is off the list. Long term, we need to develop our own search and get rid of the Google Search, but that won't happen for a while sadly. In the meantime, I'm sorry, you'll have to select the encyclopedia from the search box if you are looking for encyclopedia results. |

Oddly, Ayane Sakura is returning her page at the top of the list on both All and Encyclopedia tabs. I was going to say that Aya Hirano's encyclopedia link isn't on the first page for either searches, but now suddenly it is (on Encyclopedia, but not All).
--edit-- ..and now while Ayane Sakura's page is still top of a All search, it is missing from the Encyclopedia search |
