Sailor Moon took me and my best friend of 16 years on an unforgettable journey. When we were in college, she wanted to sell the dolls on display in this picture. I said "NO!". They've been in my care ever since, hanging out with the original Region 1 sets until the new ones come out and take over the Shelftop of Honor.

For me, Sailor Moon represents a fantastic array of inspiration. At first glance, it's a fun adventure that entertains. Look a little deeper and you'll find imagery of true friendship, optimism, and romance. Dig further and you'll find themes such as the strength in diversity and the curious power found in naivety. The sailor team shows us that absolutely everyone has value, and that simple feminism might just save the world.
Sailor Moon is an exploration into the human condition, from a perspective too often overlooked because of high-pitched voices, glitter, and fabulous hairstyles.

It's pretty incredible what effects our childhood heroes have on us! This is a drawing of Sailor Moon and a younger me; I had a rough childhood and often say that Sailor Moon helped save me. Its positivity distracted me from my unpleasant surroundings, it introduced me to the world of anime and manga, it played a part in me becoming more social and making lifelong friends, and it inspired me to draw a lot more which led me to become an artist. I love how Sailor Moon is so special to people and has touched so many lives.

Sailor Moon inspired me to follow my dreams. It inspired me to start teaching myself Japanese at age 14. It inspired me to attend university to enroll in a Japanese program. It inspired me to study abroad in Japan.
While I loved living in Japan, I also experienced first-hand the deeply institutionalized racism, sexism, and rape culture. My dream now is to return to Japan to promote social justice: to work towards equality for women, the LGBT community, and foreigners/minorities; I aspire to become a soldier of love and justice, just like Sailor Moon.

I had a back surgery that went wrong that resulted in me in a wheelchair. The docs said I'd never walk again. I watched a lot of Sailor Moon and it taught me to never give up. Today I walk. I cannot do a lot of other things but I can feel my legs and I can walk. I never gave up and that was something that the show inspired in me. I still haven't given up. I'm still fighting to get better. I will never give up.

When we first met I was growing apart from my best friend, going to junior high, feeling more awkward every day. You were beautiful and strong and surrounded by a team of friends—the kind of team I finally found in my own group of (Girl) Scouts. You were in every story I wrote, every bright, shiny hope for love and strength. I followed my beautiful dreams, spent four months in Japan, sought out your story in every used bookstore and one day woke up and believed in myself. Usagi, I carry you with me wherever I go.

Sailor Moon taught me that average people, even those with below-average talents, can be extraordinary and save the world! It conveys the encouraging feeling that we can make a difference, no matter what our strengths or weaknesses are, by just having compassion and fighting for what is right. Sailor Moon proves that you don't need super-human strength or a suit of armor to fend off evil!

Sailor Moon has always been my favorite thing! I absolutely love each adaptation and feel as if it's been a large part of my life. My childhood dream of dressing up and becoming a sailor senshi is what got me into cosplay. This has been a favorite hobby of mine for nearly ten years. I've done nine SM cosplays so far with more in the works! ;)

Sailor Moon was one of the anime that got me really into anime-- got me into drawing anime, too. Today, I watch so much anime that I do panels at conventions, and thanks to Sailor Moon inspiring me to draw, I'm in a fantastic art school as well. Earlier this year, I got to meet the voices of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask (Linda Ballentyne and Toby Proctor), and it was an amazing moment. They're super nice in person, and truly embody all that their characters stand for.

Sailormoon stands up for and selflessly gives of herself to help others, despite the cost. She holds onto hope even when things seem bleak. She believes that everyone has kindness within. She trusts in the power of her love to dispel anger and hatred, choosing instead to purify and heal.
I started crafting this costume in my final year of med-school because of my love for Sailormoon. But beyond cosplay — with patients and families, no matter how difficult, she reminds me to seek the kindness in others, to never lose hope, and to keep fighting for those who cannot.

It means the world to me. Sailor moon was my anime introduction, my first cosplay, and is still a source of inspiration in my job as an illustrator. The show also let me know that the silly, clumsy girl could be a leader and find love. Without Sailor Moon, I wouldn't be me.

Sailor Moon is important to me because it helped influence me on what career to follow when I grew up. It has also helped pick me up in moments where I have been down. Even to this day, almost two decades after I first saw my first Sailor Moon episode it continues to affect me. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it) Sailor Moon also means spending a great deal of money because of my love for the franchise.

As an only child, Sailor Moon has been just like a friend to me since I was 14. Now, 18 years have passed since I first saw her on TV and she's never ceased to make me dream with her superpowers. She has accompanied me since then, so much that I always try to find new items to continue dreaming thanks to her. When I think of her and her mates, she makes me go back to my teens and forget about my problems. She's the best virtual friend ever!

When I was young and savage words and crippling loneliness kept me awake, Sailor moon let me fall asleep. Telling myself that tonight would be the night a black cat would come through my window and leave me a magic brooch of my own, and I would steal through the night and show everyone that I was worth something and could save the world with what was inside my heart. Sailor Moon gave me the strength to carry on. Sailor Moon showed me the princess and warrior I could be.

I've been a fan since 1995. I did the usual fan stuff. I also fell in love with Japan! Usagi is always so brave, even when she's terrified. I decided, I could be brave too. I moved to Japan last year. The friends I've made here are "Sailor Moon" fans as well! When the musical "La Reconquista" came out last year, we went to the King of Systems karaoke so we could get the drink tie-ins and the special collectible coasters! We went back so many times during the promotion that the staff recognized us! It was pretty funny.

Here in Italy, it isn't always that easy to show what you love the most. Since I was a child, I was told that it was wrong to love Sailor Moon. It has never been easy to stand when my classmates made fun of me because instead of watching robot shows I preferred this funny girl. I love Sailor Moon, because it taught me to be not ashamed by who I am or what I love. No matters what you love, nobody has the right to let you down. Otherwise you must punish him by the name of the moon.

My childhood is nothing without Sailor Moon. I was 9 years old when I watched the first episode and 17 when I performed solo in a cosplay masquerade at AX. I reveled in the story because I absolutely admired the characters and hoped to grow into a woman who embodied features from each. I wished beyond anything to become as light-hearted as Minako, focused as Ami, independent as Makoto, bold as Rei, to never lose faith in the good within all people like Usagi, and finally, to grow up into a beautiful lady with a pure heart like Chibiusa.

Sailor Moon has always been a beacon of hope for many, including myself. Long before the "Brony" movement, Sailor Moon was a series that was universal to both guys and girls, and being a guy myself, I embraced the series and always held true it's teachings and timeless stories. Sailor Moon was my first crossplay, and 20 years later, since the series debut, I'm still cosplaying strong! I am beyond happy to see that the series will live on with Sailor Moon Crystal, and a brand new English Dub as well for more generations to love!

Sailor Moon has been such an inspiration to my niece. She has grown up with major anxieties and has always been afraid of new things. Her love of Sailor Moon brought out a side of her that we had never really seen till a couple years ago when she cosplayed as Sailor Moon herself and went up on stage in front of an entire convention to show off the wonderful costume her mother made for her. Sailor Moon has helped her anxiety so much and has also improved her reading skills by reading the manga every night before bed.

When I was a young child, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. For four years, days dragged on with her sickness and I escaped with Sailor Moon. Usagi also lost her mother, but she never gave up on her dreams. I lost my mother when I was 14, but I knew I could go on to make her proud, like Usagi did.
I found an old picture I drew of my mother (based off of Luna's human form) and cried, remembering the difficulty of watching my mother die and remembering the little light Sailor Moon gave me.

Sailor Moon is my childhood hero. I used to sneak upstairs and watch it at 5:30 am on Fox. I am also a transwoman, and decided that I would change my first name to Serena, to honor such a huge influence on my life. I cosplayed Sailor Moon (which was my first cosplay, and the pic I'm gonna post is old so don't hold that against me)

Sailor Moon brought me joy during a time I was very ill and very depressed. I thought my life would never be happy again. On a whim in 2008, I decided to watch Sailor Moon for the first time. I can't really put into 100 words what Sailor Moon really means to me, but I learned so many things from each story, each character. The story and characters will always be a part of my life. If it weren't for Sailor Moon to get me by, I would not be here--well, happy, and full of life!

Sailor Moon introduced me to a world where I could stop repressing myself and embrace who I was. Once I stopped repressing that I was a lesbian (having met and fallen head over heels in love with my wife of 14 years now), other walls broke. I learned to be myself. I learned how to love unconditionally. I found inner strength. In my darkest days, Sailor Moon has always been there, a light to keep me going: through my wife's mental illness, being disowned by both parents, losing my music and finding it again, as well as betrayed friendships.

I've discovered Sailor Moon quite late in my life. Nevertheless, the story and the fandom behind it have inspired me ever since. It has taught me an important lesson, that it doesn't matter, how old you are or who you are - never stop dreaming and going forward, everything ulitmately leads to a happy end.:-) Even as a late newcommer, I will continue to cheer Usagi and her friends on! My image entry shows my handmade item from 3 years ago: Luna-P now has a companion.;-)

Sailor Moon taught me to believe in yourself, in your friends and love comes all differents ways. My friends are also the most important people in my life. Sailor Moon was my first ever anime and loved it every since. Seen all the episodes, movies, specials, seen the PSGM series, read all the manga and seen the musicals. Love all characters, music, story (the manga's version of the story is my favourite). Sailor Saturn is awesome <3

Me and my childhood friend used to play with our handmade Sailor Moon dolls. We got inspired by Sailor Moon, so we drew our own Sailor Moon figures on paper and cut them out. As we did role-playing, these are the figures that I made and played with. We used to meet every 2nd day until my family left the neighborhood. But we still managed to meet once a week. We used to draw new figures until the next get-together. My favorite has always been Usagi / Sailor Moon. This is one of my best childhood memories and experience.

Sailor Moon means never having to be alone, it didn't matter if the kids were mean at school because I could go home and hang out with my five best friends. Sailor Moon is also a great role model, she has influenced me to live life with an open heart and not harshly judge people. She inspired me to transform from a shy, introverted, girl to an honest, cheerful, loving, woman. I hope my daughters grow to love and be inspired by Sailor Moon as well.

I never had the chance to watch the whole sailor moon series during my childhood but I can never forget the legendary genzuisho specially since my mother had plastic crystal I used to steal and play with it beleaving it was the real legendary Genzuisho. Due to the fact of my short hair I was either Ami or Haruka but never Usagi. Even now, sailor moon has a high rank in my all time best animes.

I had never really been passionate about anything before Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon taught me to be interested, to be inspired, to be so intensely involved in something that it engrossed my mind and emotions. Being a fan connected me to a community beyond my immediate area and made me part of something larger. It was okay for me to be enthusiastic. This was the first time in my life I felt that and it led me learn more, expand my interests and share that passion with others even to this day. My life was shaped by Sailor Moon.

I love Sailor Moon, but I also love my family who helped me all these years with my crazy habit. To my sister who introduced me back in 1995, to my amazing Grandma who had no clue who they were, but would buy anything with them on it for me. To my Aunt who let me use her computer and go on the internet to print the sailor moon fan pages. And of course my Mom, who took me to the ChinaTown a few hours away so I can shop my heart out for Sailor Moon there...
Thank you!

Sailor Moon was one of the formative forces of my childhood: I taught myself to draw from watching the show and reading the manga (though I've since gotten rusty!), and Sailor Uranus set me on the path to recognizing my identity as gender non-conforming and queer. To this day, I still form friendships with life-long Sailor Moon fans, and I hope she continues to be a unifying force in my life.

Re-discovering Sailor Moon after around 14 years has lead me to reading a fanfiction and then meeting someone who's probably now my best friend. The words in one chapter of their story inspired me to paint again, for the first time in ages. I've given the painting to them and we've been good friends since. They live in America and I live in England, we may be far apart physically, but they're probably my closest friend. If it wasn't for Sailor Moon, I never would have met them. And I'm glad that I did.

I originally got interested in "Sailor Moon" three years ago, when I learned that the music composer was the same as in "Digimon", Takanori Arisawa. After watching the first few episodes I was hooked immediately. Now I truly understand why this series is considered to be such a classic in the world of anime.
But if there's one thing the series did for me; it reawakened my love for anime. I have found several other great shows, like "Clannad" and "Waiting in the Summer", and I'm more of an otaku than I've ever been before. All thanks to "Sailor Moon".

When I was little, I always used to come home from school and watch Sailor Moon. I was fascinated by the outfits, the hair, and the accessories the sailor scouts had. Now, I am a huge fan than ever. Without Sailor Moon, I wouldn't have made the friends I have for years.

Watching Sailor Moon made me understand that my quirks and oddities were the unique traits that made me stronger, not things that I had to try to change. I could be a hero and like girls. I could be a hero and a nerd. Our love and our passions were the values that should guide us on our way.
Thanks, Sailor Moon. Thanks, Naoko Takeuchi. I owe you for much of the happiness in my life.

Sailormoon taught me English when I was a little kid, believe it or not. I learned by watching reruns of Sailormoon and other cartoons with my sister since our parents couldn't teach us English properly at the time. I was 3 at the time and have fond memories of waking up at 6 in the morning to watch it with my sister while my mom was still asleep. I don't think I would've done it as fast without being so enthralled by it back then

I started watching Sailor Moon when I was two years old, with my siblings and cousins. Each of us had a designate sailor scout and because I was the youngest, I had Sailor Moon. She's my inspiration growing up to be a strong, kind and moral woman. Sailor Moon is one of the shows I will never forget. It was only right that I decorate my college graduation cap as such. If only I had room to put "Sleeping by Moonlight, Studying by Daylight", but it was only right to thank my parents.

None of the Sailor Scouts were my role model because let's be honest they were all flawed. Just like any girl. Just like every girl. Just like me. Growing up I was shy like Ami, headstrong like Rei, tomboyish like Makato, perky like Minako, and of course, klutzy like Usagi. I didn't grow up with them, I was them. I took on their daily conflict and questioned everything: What is love? What is sacrifice? Why sacrifice for those I love? I learned and grew, symbolic of the evolution of their transformations. So to me, Sailor Moon is who I am.

In high school I got very sick and never got better until I was told that it was a permanent condition I would have to deal with for all of my life. Sailor Moon really helped me through this. She's a warrior and a princess even though she's imperfect. I love her so much. Whenever I go to an anime convention in a Sailor Scout cosplay I get a day where I'm not sick and in pain, but where I'm a warrior. My Sailor Moon cosplay is what keeps me going when I'm at my worst.

Sailor Moon was my first window into a culture outside of my own. It ignited a fascination with Japan that grew into so much more. Now I'm a sociology major in college.
Thanks, Naoko! ^_^

Sailor Moon has led me to meeting many of my life long friends and inspired me to learn Japanese. Learning Japanese eventually led me to living Japan, where I had the chance to walk the same streets defended by the guardians of love and justice. To this day, Sailor Moon continues to be a positive influence in my life, inspiring me to achieve my goals.

I fell in love with Sailor moon as a kid. It greatly influenced me to keep drawing all throughout school. I was constantly drawing whenever I got a free minute. I met one of my best friends while in one of our high school classes when she walked by and noticed me drawing Sailor Venus. She introduced me to even more anime, manga, video games, cosplay and some of the best friends I could ask for. In addition to meeting my best friends, Sailor Moon kept me drawing to where I could become a professional game artist. Thank you, Takeuchi-san.

Sailor Moon means so much to me because the story and characters taught me many lessons when I was growing up; one of the most important being: it's okay to be imperfect. Usagi's character shows this by being flawed and relatable. is klutzy, whiny aShend not an A+ student, but she is also strong, passionate and loving. She proves that you are able to overcome your weaknesses and accomplish things that you never thought were possible. She taught me that even though I'm not perfect, if I'm faced with a challenge… it'll soon be moon dust.

Almost like the magic, from the beginning, Sailor Moon was able to cast its spell; influencing me both artistically and emotionally. Evident in my submission, over time, my immeasurable love of the series impacted my own art making process, unlike anything else! And though I hope to continue my artistic endeavors professionally, perhaps even more importantly, Sailor Moon has been a source of strength. Its character's stories and messages truly speaking to me and touching me, it was able support me until the day I met my own close knit circle of friends, as well as my own miracle romance!

Before my friend Becki Doland passed away in early 2010 at 34, she had sold much of her anime collection to pay for her final expenses. Somehow she managed to keep some of her treasured Sailor Moon collection and specified it be given away to friends. Having battled kidney disease and two organ transplant operations early on, Sailor Moon became her way to escape to a place where her problems didn't exist. She was a fierce fan and I consider myself lucky to have met her large personality. I wish she was still her to see Sailor Moon Crystal.

Sailor Moon is a unique presence in my life. We meet again and again, both a little more grown up each time. I loved the series in elementary school, and when a friend lent me the original version at 15, I discovered many layers that were removed. Haruka's confident statement "I have something more valuable than 'ordinary' happiness" helped give me the courage to come out, and I'm still touched by the depth of Sailor Moon's acceptance, even caring about the suffering of her enemies. I've long been waiting for Sailor Moon's finally at-hand return, and I couldn't be happier.

Thanks to Sailor Moon, I grew up believing in magic, love, and women that can stand on their own and be just as strong as men. The picture is of my first real cosplay, and although I was terrified the entire day about what people were thinking of me, I've always wanted to cosplay Sailor Jupiter, as she embodies everything I want to be: feminine but strong, and always having the courage to stand up for what she believes in. So I held my head high and had an amazing time! (costume by Ridi Kitty Design, cosplayer is me)

Sailor Moon has been a part of my life since I was 7 years old. I remember running home right after school to catch it on TV every week day. This portion of my collection, that started it all, somehow stayed with me through my childhood to now. I don't think I will ever part with these particular items. They hold too many happy memories for me. That locket "transformed" me into Sailor Moon many times as a kid!

I don't know how to describe how important Sailor Moon is to me. My first web site was a Sailor Moon Fan Page and my first fan art that I can remember was Princess Serenity. I made friends with other fans, I started going to anime conventions and then eventually became a guest liaison for a few conventions. My first VHS in my large anime collection was Sailor Moon. I studied mythology and astrology to understand Sailor Moon a bit more. Watching it became mother and daughter time. Sailor Moon has been an influence in every aspect of my life.

Fairy Tail BD+DVD 20
anime
The beginning of the Tartaros Arc marks a dark shift in tone for the adventures of Natsu and friends. Rebecca reflects on what changes the anime has made to the even grimmer manga version of these events.
