Murder Incarnation is definitely 3D rendered, which is frankly a first for me with manga (although I think I've seen manga creation software which is based on 3D models). It also got pretty samey pretty quickly, and there's no hint of any deeper story to come.

Murder Incarnation's art is what makes me curious about it. Have to wait though, only so many hours in the day to chase after cats.
That's one advantage of living in the Orlando metro area, we have 3 Asian markets in easy driving distance and the major supermarkets all carry a lot of Asian goods. Mark Gosdin |

My Love Story would have been a good one-shot (which is basically what the first chapter feels like), but it really cannot find a direction for itself after that. It just keeps demonstrating what a sweet guy the main character is over and over.

I guess it means if you have a CR subscription, you might as well read it, but if you don't, you shouldn't sign up just for this. Personally I only got through the first two chapters, realized it was an anthology series, and didn't have the urge to go through another story of the same type. |

What Did You Eat Yesterday? definitely has gotten good again with its two most recent volumes. I hope we learn more about Kenji later on. I also have to remember not to read it when I'm hungry...
Have you read the second volume? Just did so, and the overall story's getting fleshed out bit by bit. Suna in particular has some great moments. After reading the first volume, I was kind of on the fence about it, but this second volume has me sold-- it doesn't feel like a one-trick pony. That it's both heartwarming and makes me laugh out loud at times are major plusses. |

I know that if I was in a room like that, I wouldn't get a wink of sleep. Porcelain dolls just freak me out...and I have no idea why this fear of mine started. I've read some good reviews for My Love Story, but it seems like the negative aspects pointed out happen to be things that would certainly get on my nerves. Guess I'll continue to watch that one from a distance for now. |

FYI: With the fall of Daran a decade ago, it is very difficult to find new or like-new volumes now, although one could buy used copies with NT$10 (US$0.33) for both volumes on auction sites or garage sales. |

@Fronzel - The first chapter of My Love Story was published as a 1-shot. It was popular so the authors could continue it. Same with Kimi ni Todoke.

Don't lose hope! I'll do it for next time. I try to space out series so that I'm not constantly reviewing the same five, but since I know someone's interested, I'll make sure it's in the next column.
I haven't read/seen the first series - if I can just jump in, I'll try to get to it.
I lot of people are afraid of them - we may have to seriously rethink our plan.
If it helps, I've noticed that you and I tend to disagree on romances and have more similar taste with action series, so probably this one would push your buttons. Thanks for the additional Chinese-language info for Fancy Lala, Dormcat! |

As to the Alice series, really shouldn't it just be called Alice in Hell. Outside of Alice everyone else appears to be bad or downright evil.
I got the first few books, because of the cover art. But it just seemed to be a bunch of victimhood porn, with implied rape thrown in, disguised as some sort of romantic harem quest route novels. I can put up with a lot in anime, especially if the art is top notch, but these manga just slowly sucked the life out of me. The art is great, but I guess reading eternal suffering stories is my weakness. - Just a little something else to add. If you have an eternal suffering story, there has to be a payoff. The more suffering, the bigger the payoff has to be. Alice choosing the least evil or bad guy for her true love is not a payoff for this type of story. |

Noted. *Don't trust Princess_Irene's reviews on romances* Nah, but seriously, I will keep an eye on it. The premise for the series interests me, but I guess I want to wait just to hear a bit more about it's development before jumping right in. |

Something about 'Murder Incarnation' really hooked me for some reason, despite the kind of awkward art (no one really seems to emote, either), but in the end it didn't really go anywhere. It wasn't very long, though. It kind of works as a collection of short stories with a similar theme but it would have worked better if it had some kind of ongoing story thread about the twintails girl.
