ANN seems very pumped about this upcoming AX. I hope the actual convention does not disappoint.

Kind of hard to see that it will. Considering how big AX is, even failure could be spectacular, or at the very least interesting. Boredom would disappoint, anything else is bound to be entertaining. I hope those Akame ga Kill bags are sturdy. |

Not seeing any pictures. I even disabled adblock...and then the site took like 5 times longer to load thanks to the 100 ads you have on here. Still no pictures with adblock disabled. Fun times.

I haven't been an anime fan for that long (since 2012) and I'm not that old either though (22) so I'm just hoping there's a chance that an anime expo or convention or whatever can be held over in this nation again someday. I would love to go there and see things. I am not rich enough to go out flying on plane if these events were situated somewhere else.

Speaking as someone onto whom it has been raining for the last month, I am somewhat glad I rarely have to brace such temperatures. I wish those who are bracing themselves for AX all the luck that their antiperspirants can provide. |

Same here. Maybe "Live Photos" is literally true and there will be pictures only while the expo is open. Has it even started yet? |

Just asking because your tags note you're in the UK and I HAVE TO know. Is this serious or sarcastic? Because speaking as someone (in Texas) currently enjoying upper 90s, lower 100s F temperatures, the forecast your posted looks like a BEAUTIFUL weekend. (for the record, I totally take the HOT summers in order to avoid the frigid winters, but mid-upper 70s is NOT hot) |

This is probably just me and my wishy washy feelings about anime of late but I feel more this sense of dread of what terrible ideas for shows and sequels of more stuff I just plain don't care about might be announced here more than anything. I just still feel that the industry has become too corporate, homogenized, safe and geared strictly towards stereotypical otaku demographics this decade and that more than anything that's what this convention is going to be about promoting the supposed glory of yet again as well as selling people on the idea that the industry is actually doing anything fresh and innovative in anything besides how it does it's marketing which seems to be where most of the real resources and focus goes nowadays. Like I have to admit if I were a marketing student I'd probably find the anime industry a riveting case study because there's actually a lot going on there and changing right now, but as an entertainment medium that's producing worthwhile content once you strip away all the hype marketing and really get down to the core in how most shows turn out nowadays and I say this as a fan of it for over 25 years now....I'm just not sure anymore....like not even sure I could still even call it competent on average. Fingers crossed for not being presented with horror show ideas of abject sameness and empty hype from and by the same old suspects that haven't done anything truly interesting in years so much as had it marketed as such from the industry panels tomorrow but not getting my hopes up. This is yet another chance for the industry to restore some faith in it but I sooner figure it dashes it and the most that comes out of this weekend is some trailers for more of the same old stuff like SAO and Fate/Stay Night that I'm just weary of already.
Why does this not actually sound like a huge vote of confidence either. If I just wanted to see a clusterfuck I'm sure me and a couple of buddies could create one on our own. We'd probably end up in jail and in court but hey. |

Are there problems getting permission to take photos or get them uploaded to Twitter?
There doesn't seem to be a huge lot of new photos at https://twitter.com/ |

P.S. Come early and avoid the Pico Ave exit from the I10 after ~10am, if you know your way around, an alternate from there is 110 south, first exit (23rd?) right, Union north (right) 12th right to the West Hall parking (Pico is a trap). Kentia hall=parking A-D is the artist's alley this year (huge)! |

72 degrees? It felt warmer than that. It hasn't been as warm as most of the previous AXes I've been to, but the humidity means it can get quite sweaty out there. Or maybe it's because I do a lot of walking to get to the convention center, because...
...I prefer to park in one of the parking lot structures directly north of the convention center. Particularly during the weekdays, they are $6 to $10 all day, as these structures are meant for the hordes of Monday-to-Friday workers. There's one I've found that's $6 on weekdays if you get there after 4 PM and you're out by 3 AM. Nevertheless, I usually expect 90-100 during early July around here, so it's odd that it isn't. Then again, when you're sitting outside in the sun in line, it can feel way hotter. (Every panel I've gone to thus far this year, coincidentially, has been in Room 403AB, whose line does not have any shade whatsoever). And yes, I cannot see any pictures either. |
