Even in this digital age, the demand for vinyl records is still high among professionals and audio fans alike, and that fact is no different for anime fans' demand for a favorite series' soundtrack. That's why the complete, limited-edition vinyl record of the jazzy original soundtrack for Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt went on sale at the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky screening events that started on June 25 and will continue for two weeks in 15 select theaters across Japan.
Shingo Tamagawa, animation director for episode #2, illustrated the original soundtrack's jacket. The cover also includes a detailed line drawing on the opposite side. The vinyl retails for 4,630 yen (about US$45) by Sony Music Artists and TABOO.
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky is a special director's cut edition movie compilation of the four Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt web anime episodes. The 70-minute film includes newly-produced footage that was not included in the web edition. The first press limited "Complete Edition" DVD and Blu-ray Disc was also sold at the screenings along with other attendance bonuses and special goods. The regular edition DVD and Blu-ray Disc will hit the stores on July 29.
