Yeah, anatomy isn't Yoshikawa's strong suit. It isn't quite that bad in the rest of the book. |

Quoth the reviewer: "Don't let the boobs on the cover turn you off – "
That could never happen. This seems like a book that I should try. The mention of "tragic results" puts me off a bit, but I will still check it out. Thank you for a thorough, balanced, and informative review.
I am not seeing two knees, but her shin does seem to be a bit too long. |

Why shouldn't I let the boobs on the cover turn me off? It's the first thing shown to me. | |||

Because if that alone is enough to turn you off from engaging with a series rather than things like the actual writing or art therein then you have rather high standards. |

lol I just realized I had that OVA in my bookmarks to watch since last year. I was wondering why the title of the OVA looked familiar. |

I saw the cover, and I let out a big "nope".
Even if it's worth it and all, I just... Can't. With a cover like that, no. |

Review: My Hero Academia Vol. 4
manga
My Hero Academia is in its element in a volume that mixes dramatic battles and strong character writing to stand at the peak of its genre.
― My Hero Academia's third volume was a bit of a lesser volume, focusing mostly on the cooldown period between two larger arcs. It was fun, but it was the manga leaning on its fundamental assets, and not truly demonstrating what it could really do. But that volume...
Answerman - Will Anime Discs Keep Being Sold At Major Retailers?
industry
Many fans have noticed the dwindling real estate held by anime DVDs and blurays on retail shelves nationwide - is this trend eventually going to spell the end of anime in major retail locations?
― Dominic asks: When it comes with selling anime to physical retailers, some publishers, such as Aniplex of America, PonyCan USA and NISA, only sell to specialist anime stores (for example: Anime Jungle in L...
Shelf Life - Date A Live II
anime
Paul takes on the second season of Date A Live, which unbelievably manages to cram in even more superpowered girls than the first season. PLUS: This week's new anime releases!
― I had a very small, very nerdy epiphany this week. I was shopping around for some new miniatures for the X-Wing tabletop game when it occurred to me that some things change very little from childhood to adulthood. I still pl...
Maken-Ki! Two BD+DVD
anime
The second series for this fan service fest is a slight improvement over the first, but that isn't saying much.
― Heavy fan service shows may have gotten more sophisticated in their characterizations and storytelling over the past few years, but that is only on the average. The classic big, dumb booby show still pops up on a regular basis because they still sell well enough on both sides of the Pacif...
The SPJA Needs to Change This Policy

The Mike Toole Show - Night of the Hunter x Hunter
anime
The beloved shonen adventure anime Hunter x Hunter is coming to Toonami, which prompts Mike to launch into a full appreciation of this often undervalued action masterpiece.
― A few years back, the 2011 version of Hunter x Hunter was appointment TV for me. I watched it every weekend (and later, every Tuesday), eager for its thrills, plot twists, and the fun chemistry between heroes Gon and Killua. Lat...
The List - 6 of Anime's Less-Than-Finest Officers
anime
When you're in trouble, call the police - just hope you don't get any one of these particularly unqualified officers.
― Incompetent cops are a common foil in Western fiction, especially if the main character is a vigilante superhero or the victim of a crime that's gone unpunished. It isn't nearly as common in anime though, where blue bloods are filled with types like Akane Tsunemori, Natsumi Tsujimo...
The Other Side of Secret GN 1
manga
Blending fanservice with an interesting plot, The Other Side of Secret's first volume shows some potential even as it spends most of its time setting up.
― Don't let the boobs on the cover turn you off – underneath the fanservice element (which will be an added appeal for some readers) is an interesting story about mysterious doors and dark otherworlds. While I wouldn't call this a tame book (althoug...
