Back in my high school day a classmate said that the creator of Ranma 1/2 had trouble drawing feet....or hands I forgot which so you really barely seen. I want to say feet since I see them mostly either in shoes or not shown but I could be wrong.

I have no idea if it is true that Rumiko Takahashi had trouble drawing feet, but I think that it is unlikely.
Many of the characters in Inuyasha never wear shoes. I have not paid attention to the feet to notice how well they are drawn, but if she had trouble with them she could easily have put boots on the characters. I think that feet usually do not have much detail because there is seldom a reason to show them up close. |

Like most established mangaka, Takahashi had multiple assistants working for her (probably still does). Even if she did have a problem with feet an assistant could easily handle that task. For this reason you will not see this in the manga.
It is possible that she mentioned in an interview not liking to draw feet, but I doubt it. Looking at her art work from the beginning show no lack of ability. There was a rumor back in the late 90's that one of the artists who started Image comics couldn't draw feet well (with or without shoes). I suspect this may have gotten mixed up with manga discussions. Rumors do change with the telling. |

I suggest sending this question to answerman(at)animenewsnetwork(dot)com. Locking due to speculation.
