Very excited to see this go up, since I've been keeping an eye out for it. I haven't gone through and looked at the reviews yet but I wanted to say that I love the new organization, with reviews of the same show grouped together. Since I have a pretty good idea how my tastes line up with the regular reviewers, it's definitely good to be able to compare reviews for the same series so easily.

I have to say I'm shocked Dandy isn't getting higher scores. I thought that would be one of those 4.5/5 shows from everyone.
person#107990 One of the Space Dandy staff said that the English dub was bad and recommended the sub. Last edited by RyanSaotome on Mon Jan 06, 2014 1:47 pm; edited 1 time in total |

It has arrived. Yay, about time.
Any longer and the season would've been over. |

I liked Dandy more than Carl or Theron did, but I agree that it's thin beyond visual flair and occasional humor.

I have to say I enjoyed Space Dandy far more then I expected. I went into it expecting one of Watanabes normal kinda things (which I never like), but instead got a fun show with bizarre space adventures and lots of fanservice. I understand its probably not what you'd want if you were hoping for another Bebop, but it certainly is more in line with what I enjoy.

I love that it's organized by show! Much more user-friendly. Thanks, ANN staff. <3

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, he missed something in there, himself, and redacted any statement on it. |

Yes he did delete his comment, but most people feel its because his bosses didn't want him saying negative things about the show. Of course, that can't be proven one way or the other, but I'd be inclined to believe his original tweets. |

Honey gave an extremely stupid guess to Dandy's profession when he told her to guess, in both languages.

The optimistic side of me is saying that Space Dandy might need a couple episodes to get going. So far, its decent, hopin it improves

Yes, but her answer in the sub can also be interpreted as her insulting Dandy, which gives us a clue that she's not as ditzy and stupid as she acts. It's also arguably just as funny. The actual voice acting in the dub was great, but that change comes across as...unnecessary. Last edited by ThatGuyWhoLikesThings on Mon Jan 06, 2014 2:16 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Pretty surprised that Spaced Dandy scored so low. Silly boob jokes aside, i enjoyed it quite a bit. Then again, i missed most of the hype surrounding it and didn't have very high expectations, i guess.
Oh and btw, i love the new format! Makes the guide a lot easier to read, thank you. |

Especially with the ending being what it was (spoiler[all the characters die]), this is a definitely a series that I want to see the first two episodes of before I make up my mind whether to actually continue with it. There's not many series coming out this season that I'm super excited for, so I'm thankful as always for you guys sitting through everything to let us know if there's something good we might have noticed, or what is definitely to be avoided. |

I actually kinda enjoyed Space Dandy too! Anyways, the season officially began and I have high hopes for some of the other shows soon to debut.
Also I kinda like the new format/layout of the preview guides to make it easier to find which shows are being reviewed beforehand. |

The Mike Toole Show - Night of the Hunter x Hunter
anime
The beloved shonen adventure anime Hunter x Hunter is coming to Toonami, which prompts Mike to launch into a full appreciation of this often undervalued action masterpiece.
― A few years back, the 2011 version of Hunter x Hunter was appointment TV for me. I watched it every weekend (and later, every Tuesday), eager for its thrills, plot twists, and the fun chemistry between heroes Gon and Killua. Lat...
The List - 6 of Anime's Less-Than-Finest Officers
anime
When you're in trouble, call the police - just hope you don't get any one of these particularly unqualified officers.
― Incompetent cops are a common foil in Western fiction, especially if the main character is a vigilante superhero or the victim of a crime that's gone unpunished. It isn't nearly as common in anime though, where blue bloods are filled with types like Akane Tsunemori, Natsumi Tsujimo...
The Other Side of Secret GN 1
manga
Blending fanservice with an interesting plot, The Other Side of Secret's first volume shows some potential even as it spends most of its time setting up.
― Don't let the boobs on the cover turn you off – underneath the fanservice element (which will be an added appeal for some readers) is an interesting story about mysterious doors and dark otherworlds. While I wouldn't call this a tame book (althoug...
Answerman - What Determines Whether Songs In Anime Get Dubbed?
anime
When an anime has a musical number or an insert song, they're only occasionally dubbed into English - why is that, and how are those decisions made?
― Dustin asks: The English dub of Love Live! transitions from English dialogue to the original song performances of the Japanese seiyuu. In other cases like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, the insert songs are sung in English. What's the process of d...
Anime Time Travel: Who Got It Right?

Sword Art Online Novel 7
novels
Theron's favorite part of Sword Art Online shows up in its original light novel form, and he finds the experience a little diminished from its anime adaptation.
― The seventh novel in the core SAO storyline corresponds to episodes 18-24 of Sword Art Online II, which in my evaluation is the best SAO story arc released in the U.S. to date. I expounded on the merits of its storytelling in great detail i...
The X Button - Bandai Namco's Anime Wave
anime
This week: Bandai Namco’s staggering anime videogame lineup of Jojo’s, Sword Art Online, One Piece, and more! Plus Persona 3, Phoenix Wright, and the best new Pokemon!
― When the Pokemon craze enveloped children everywhere in the late 1990s, comedians and parents and cultural pundits opined that it would soon give way to some other fad. I wonder if any of them still predict that. Bolstered by Ninten...
Review: Harmony
anime
After the flawed but entertaining Empire of Corpses, the second film in the Project Itoh series is a pretty serious letdown. Nick Creamer does the postmortem.
― The first film in the Project Itoh series, The Empire of Corpses, was a fairly well-composed adventure romp. Its attempts to use zombies to speak to the nature of the human soul were somewhat half-baked, but those issues couldn't prevent it f...
