I personally loved the Escaflowne Fox Kids opening, but that's just me.
And I somehow knew that the One Piece 4kids opening would be on here somewhere. |

Funny thing is 4Kids did a cover of We Are for the opening for their pilot of One Piece and it wasn't that bad (might have been Dan Green singing, but I can't remember anymore). Someone in corporate must have thought a rap was a good idea.

I'm a bit disappointed the original opening wasn't included as a way to valid the "bad" version.
I like both the dubbed song for OHSHC and Rayearth. Okay, Fox isn't the greatest singer I've ever heard, but the song's cherished because it tried so hard to stick within the confines of the music. It's one of those that can be described as "it's so bad, it's good". |

I was going to say "in before a bunch of nostalgia over bad openings, bad dubs, etc", but it seems I'm too late.

I'm not sure how Ouran's dub opening can be construed in any way as being one of "the very worst" when there's stuff like FUNi's original Dragon Ball GT opening out there too.
The qualities you list about the song hold true to the original Japanese version too -- being a bit monotonous -- so it's more a problem with the song than the dubbing of it. Maybe just listening to it not ever seeing the show/being a fan of makes me hear it differently than others... Last edited by xScar on Sat May 04, 2013 11:24 am; edited 1 time in total |

When I saw Ouran on the list I could only think of the dubbed ending song. I can't believe I forgot how horrible the opening was too. (I guess it was so painful I made myself forget). Still, I cannot get over that they didn't use Vic's version for the ending. Big mistake on their part.
I hope you do a list of awesome dubbed openings! |

Team Jacob!
The "tvguy" who was doing the Foxcaflowne editing was actually discussing and asking for suggestions (while trying to satisfy his boss Fox) on usenet, so we were aware of the changing stuffs before they even come up on the air. I was seriously surprised Rayearth topped the Cardcaptors opening, which is the poster example of how to completely prove you know NOTHING about the show you're trying to market.
Then I listened... and I cried. EDIT: I just realized... why the lack of the Digimon dub opening? Compared to the Japanese OPs, it is godawful. Last edited by Splitter on Sat May 04, 2013 11:36 am; edited 1 time in total |

"It's so good, it's good." for Rayearth. Reasoning? Karaoke. It's not a matter of performance, it's a matter of gusto which Sandy Fox scores admirably. Unlike all those DBZ Kai guys... |

This is the dictionaries official definition of a werewolf: "A person who changes for periods of time into a wolf" So if you count wolf girls like Holo, there are quite a few. |

Even though I admit that I kinda like it, I'm honestly surprised that Rave Master isn't on here. I assume the Ending theme would make a list of those though.
And, I'd never seen the English version of Escaflowne, but I now assume that's where Zac got his pronounciation from. |

...I personally liked the Magic Knight Rayearth and Cardcaptors opening....but maybe that's just me, also Monster Ranchers may not be the catchiest opening, but it got my attention more than the Japanese one...

Not to be annoyed but I have to disagree with this article a bit. The openings for Escaflowne, Monster Rancher and Cardcaptors were awesome sauce. Nothing will change my mind to that, since if thats what you grew up with your gona always love them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hated the dubbed Ouran opening. The lassie couldn't sing in tune half the time, and the pace of the song was just too fast to try and fit that many syllables in. It made my ears bleed.
I'm surprised the YuGiOh theme wasn't on this list. That's just hilarious. |

Real Account GN 1
manga
Don't write this one off just because you're sick of "trapped in a game" stories - Real Account has some tricks up its sleeve that make it worth checking out.
― There comes a point in a genre when many consumers say “enough.” For the trapped-in-a-game genre, which is relatively young as these things go, that moment has been creeping up for many people, which may discourage them from picking up Okusho...
The List - 8 Dubious Anime Dub Opening Songs
anime
There once was a magical time in anime dub history where North American anime licensors dubbed over Japanese opening and ending songs. These eight songs represent the very worst the English anime song genre has to offer.
― Lynzee Loveridge is on a short hiatus, so this week we're reprinting a classic List. New columns will return next Saturday! There once was a magical time in anime dub history wher...
UQ Holder! GN 4
manga
UQ Holder finally finds its feet in this volume, demonstrating far more drama, fun, and creativity than ever before.
― I knew this manga was worth believing in. In spite of its lackluster early volumes, I knew Akamatsu had it in him to make a truly satisfying shounen manga, one that demonstrated all the passion and creativity that occasionally glimmered through in Negima. It's taken a while, but UQ H...

― The Arabian Nights' Entertainment. 1001 Nights. Whatever you call it, the collection of Middle and Far Eastern folklore collected around the 13th century in Persia (now Iran) has had impressive reach in all corne...
ALDNOAH.ZERO Blu-Ray 4
anime
ALDNOAH.ZERO tries just a little too hard to wrap everything up in a bow in these last six episodes, and while it works, it lacks any major impact.
― I very rarely say this, but in the case of Aldnoah.Zero, I firmly believe it: the show should have ended after episode twelve. While it would have been a depressing ending, it also would have made a point and kept its characters fairly interesting and r...
The X Button - Interview: Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
anime
This week: Star Ocean producer Shuichi Kobayashi talks sequels, scandalous attire, and Valkyrie Profile! Plus Let it Die, Nier: Automata, and a dangerous new direction for games.
― Welcome to another edition of the X Button. I must interrupt your regularly scheduled Valkyrie Profile updates for some news about Sony's new PlayStation 4. Yes, some solid rumors point to Sony releasing an upgraded versi...
C³ BD+DVD
anime
C3 is a surprisingly entertaining take on some well-worn action-fanservice territory.
― Released five years ago now, C³ was one of Silver Link's earliest productions, before they were renowned for… well, making a whole lot of shows exactly like C³. The show falls in the timeless “action-fanservice adaptation themed around torture/bondage gear” subgenre, which has more recently featured the legitimate...
