The Sony PlayStation 4K Could Be Built For Virtual Reality
The Sony PS4 has been out since 2013 and it looks like its predecessor is already hot on its heels, dubbed PlayStation 4K.
While very little is known about the PlayStation 4.5, which is expected to be an incremental upgrade, it was outed by Kotaku after the Game Developers Conference.
The new PS4 is being jokingly called PlayStation 4K among developers in the know, as it's expected to be upgrade to support Ultra High Definition content. The upgraded GPU should make way for higher quality virtual reality support. Sony is releasing its PS VR in October this year.
New televisions with 4K largely support UHD already, so this move looks like a play by Sony to make the PS4 the home hub, as one place to do everything chill-related.
So watching 4K Netflix, perhaps even in VR, without putting down your gaming controller could be possible soon. It's also rumoured to feature newer features like High Dynamic Range and High Frame Rate support.
Pricing and release date have not been mentioned yet but with the launch of PS VR in October there is a chance you could be putting the PS4K on your list to Santa later this year.
