Damn right you put Kekkai Sensen and Snafu at the top of your list for best spring anime!
Also, this list is horribly incorrect because Mad Bull 34 does not occupy every spot on the list. That and the Grappler Baki OVA. This is the most powerful double feature I have ever laid eyes on. |

Man, I would love it if someone miraculously finished Mighty Space Miners. That show had so much potential to be great. Having only two episodes made out of the originally planned six was a tragedy. Just read this review on The Anime Review to see why.

That's an almost perfect list. I'd love more Battle Angel, Gun Smith and 3x3 eyes. However I'd love to see (Because of the JoJo anime doing so well) a proper Baoh anime. That would be amazing.

Yeah Battle Angel or Gunnm, as it's also called, could do with a full adaptation.

I liked what I saw of 3 x 3 Eyes, looked at how many books the manga series had and thought, well, otherwise for the most part; I still can't figure out how that premise earned that many books.
I know there was a number of OVAs that had a "and the story is just beginning!" feel to them but I can't think of any title in particular where I'd like to see it concluded. So this isn't a OVA but considering what was actually produced, it may have well been one: His and Her Circumstances. And a number of people would like a new Tenchi Muyo series, a real one this time and not just whatever they did instead. But since that franchise is more like a zombie cockroach than anything else, it may not count. Seeing the four shows I really liked this season in the top 8 makes me feel uncomfortable; Is my taste becoming normal? BBB topped my favorite by 7% and there's UBW; Situation Normal, All... well, you know the rest. |

I'm one of those people who still wonder whether Dragon Half could have kept its momentum going, if the original manga creator hadn't had that bit of jail trouble.
Half the resurrected titles I'm inclined to think are like the name-only pet-semataried Tenchi series resurrected like Terminator sequels, by companies who bought the franchise titles at a clearance sale-- But then you have things like Slayers R/Evolution, where the cast and crew wanted to get back together again. (Even if the result ends up being "tainted" by current-anime otaku interests, and a robotic maid has to find its way into the series.) And then those titles that actually are marketing nostalgia, like Sailor Moon's 20th anniversary, or DBZ getting Toriyama back on for old times' sake. Someone on another thread (and sooner or later on this one And basically, the two are happening for the same reason: Corporate power structure, the change of the industry, and warped audience trends have pretty much destroyed our perceptions of movies, TV, music and anime throughout the entire entertainment industry: Those who make and sell the product are saying "Remember how much we used to love movie theaters as a kid, and didn't just hit the opening weekend and wait for the disk?" or "Remember when we had our favorite Tuesday night TV show, and didn't just binge them all at once on our tablet?"--And then think that the reason we remember Ghostbusters, Robocop or Hawaii Five-O so fondly was that movies and TV would be so much better if we just brought them back to have around again. It's an awareness of what we've lost, without a decent postmortem autopsy of how we lost them in the first place, and the panic sinking in that we've burned our own bridges and we're never going to get them back. In Japan, it may be sinking in with a new generation that in the 90's mainstream days--back before anyone who watched TV anime was clearly an insecure MMORPG-addicted burden-on-society girl-phobic NEET masturbating to Madoka Magica--shows were designed to sell themselves to a wide mass audience, and there was something there to appeal to just about everyone. Anime fans get snubbed as being "sheltered kidults who watch Doraemon", but half of the Japanese phenomenon over Stand By Me's box office may be the subconscious generational recognition sinking in that, y'know...maybe watching Doraemon back then wasn't so bad after all, compared to what we've got now. And being cynical and dismissing an industry down to its purest corporate business-market forms, or being ultra-niche and trying to sell it to pinpointed interests, means you give up the generic feel-good quality that attracted everyone in the first place...You can't have one without losing the other, and you don't just get it back by wishing. |

Omg devil hunter yohko!!! I did not expect to see it on the list what a nice surprise! I'm actually kind of sad that Arislan got a revival due to the Arakawa manga. Don't get me wrong I love her art but the first OVA was literally the first anime I ever watched and the designs just look so stocky and ugly compared to Amano's original stuff. Sigh.
We're kinda better off without it tbh. Idk if you've read the manga but the ending is pretty tame and contrived. It was a pretty generic shoujo manga, and the anime was only good because of Anno (and Sagisu's music). Apparently he quit the show because the manga artist didn't like his take, so it's probably impossible we'd get another one. |

Oh gosh, I've been wanting a Tokyo Babylon TV series ever since I collected the Tokyopop manga during middle school. The OVA was okay since they're original stories but, this is one CLAMP manga that would look great if Madhouse, J.C. Staff, or A-1 Pictures adapted the manga as a 12 episode series. Also, agree with Gunsmith Cats, Please Save My Earth, and Battle Angel Altia.
For other 1990's OVAs, I will continue to vouch for FAKE, Gravitation (the OVA is way closer to the manga in tone), Ai no Kusabi (and actually FINISH it this time!), Mermaid Saga, and Tekkaman Blade (since Tatsunoko Production rebooted Gatchman and Yatterman, this would be a great addition). LOGH is 'allegedly' getting a reboot but who knows if that will happen or not. |

I just finished reading 3X3 Eyes and my lord, would the battles be awesome. Benares (the bad guy) is an absolute beast in combat, and I can't think of anyone more vicious then him when it comes down to tearing your opponent into little pieces. I would love to see an actual representation of him, not that watered down version from the OVAs... which were horrible. To anyone wondering how that premise can get so many books, let me give you a small idea. Here is a generic example of the story progression:
Part 1: Become immortal -> find way to become human -> find item that turns you human -> lose item that makes you human. So far, so generic. After part 1: training from hell, time travel, HOLY SHIT IS THAT A DRAGON, traveling through the void, HOLY SHIT IS THAT A PLANET, the instrumentality project. All through that, battles that put most current shows to shame. There's a lot you can do when your MC is literally immortal. Even more so when both fighters are literally immortal. |

Yes! Battle Angel Alita/Gunnm needs a proper anime. Too bad What's his Face (Cameron) is probably sitting on all the rights to it for in perpetuity.
Wait what? There are Cyborgs from Mars in Kite? --scratches head-- Maybe I should pull out my Battle Angel OVA, because there's a lot of stuff in Kite that I don't recall in BA. I wouldn't mind seeing 3x3 eyes or Please Save my Earth revived either. I'm not sure about the others as they feel more like a product of their times maybe? Its been a long time since I've seen most of these on the list, but I guess if they can give Yatterman a spin then anything is possible. |

Yes to all of these! Granted, this list makes me feel a bit old as I watched these all back in the day (Gunsmith Cats excepted).
Although not in the same vein as what is on the list, I'd love to see a new Koko wa Greenwood as well. |

Some really good choices here. I was a pretty big fan of the manga versions of 3x3 Eyes, GSC and BAA back in the day so I would be thrilled if any of those got expanded adaptations.
