This is pretty disgusting. ([Edit]: snipped. Please keep things civil. Errinundra.) He didn't just ask for nudes and suggestive posing, but asked for under aged things of this nature. What scum would even think to exploit a fellow anime fan's common interest like that? It's unthinkable.

This is terrifying. Look how horrifying the internet has become because now we have sick people trying to con people to creating porn. It's sickening. I hope this imposter is caught soon.

I wonder which ANN staffer he tried to impersonate. Too bad it seems there isn't much legal recourse you can take beyond removing his e-mails and various accounts. There's a huge difference between having people trying to guest anime quotes about fisting someone and stooping to this level. welp well thats disturbing. People like this should be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
As much as i'd like to help get this guy caught I don't think he'll ever contact me seeing as i dont cosplay... and I'm not exactly good looking... oh yeah and i'm a dude. times like this a death note and/or the eyes of a death god would be pretty useful *play laugh track here* |

I wish there was some way in alerting the police about this ANN-impersonating perpetrator. It's people like him that make the Internet a terrible place.

Murder isn't a good way to address this. Jail and proper fines are more appropriate. Cosplayers should also be informed to, under no circumstances, expose themselves; I think that no ANN critic would ever ask for that, only a creep would so something like that. |

I honestly don't think I'll ever understand the mindset of people like this. The idea of doing something like this wouldn't even occur to me, and then there is a whole list of things that should tell any rationale person that this is just plain wrong to do.

Never got cosplay photography. That aside, it's no surprise that there would be a few pedos out there who would try to socially target ANN considering how long ANN has been around.
With that said, a few folks in the thread asked if the polcie were involved. I'm sure considering a large part of the demographic of the message board here is likely under 21, I would not at all be surprised if FBI already routinely monitors these forums (or even elsewhere) looking for pedos. |

Absolutely disgusting. There are some real creeps out there, huh?
Good on ANN for calling this out and for showing solidarity with the victims of this effing perv. Hope he gets exposed, red-handed and red-faced. |

Just one more thing I'd like to add as I work in a sector of the tech industry where we see a LOT of fraud.
Scrutinize email addresses and links very closely. Make sure, for example, that [email protected] really is legit. There are a lot of frauds out there who will use that sort of tactic to try and fool people. Usually it's in the guise of someone posing as a CEO of a company who is contacting the accountant within the same company, telling them to wire money to some foreign company to pay some bill. It's easy to do because the hierarchy of a company is usually pretty easy to figure out with a little research. If you didn't spot the trick already, look closely at the email address. Folks, we have customers who carelessly transferred tens of thousands of dollars to foreign accounts because they didn't look closely or didn't verify that the request being made was legit. |

I'm disappointed, I thought this was the title of an upcoming anime at first. In all seriousness will report if I see anything. |

The Mike Toole Show - Monster Girl Safari
anime
Mike dons his pith helmet and goes on an expedition to observe one of the most unique (and suddenly popular) species of anime character: the Monster Girl. The journey will change him... forever.
― Lately I've been cruising up and down the aisles of my public library almost every day, because the library is a good place to go and do important research of a critical, academic nature. It's also a good p...
My Little Monster GN 12
manga
There's one volume left, but the main story ends here in a book that is sweet, thoughtful, and thoroughly satisfying.
― Stable, happy couples don't tend to make for great reading, but they do provide excellent happy endings. Robico's My Little Monster has never fully promised us either of these things as it followed the rocky, awkward romance between emotionally wounded Haru and deliberately cold Shi...
The List - Six Lost Mysteries of Anime
anime
Mystery anime is back in vogue lately, but the genre is famously underrepresented in the US. Here are six mystery anime that still need an official US release!
― Recent anime seasons has shown a renewed interest in the mystery genre, from lighter fare like Haruchika to dark thrillers like this season's ERASED. This is boon for fans of an oft neglected genre, doubly so because its previous entries ra...
UQ Holder! GN 2
manga
UQ Holder maintains its polish and consistency, but has yet to truly find its voice in this second volume.
― In many ways, UQ Holder feels like the series Ken Akamatsu has been wanting to write for most of his career. His first major hit, Love Hina, started off as a traditional harem series, with serial failure Keitaro Urashima finding himself the manager of a lady's dorm and comedy predictably ensui...
There's a Pervert Impersonating ANN Staff
cosplay
Sadly this isn't a joke. Someone out there is impersonating an ANN staff photographer to put female cosplayers in compromising positions.
― tl;dr version: Anime News Network staff will always contact you from an @animenewsnetwork.com e-mail address. Freelance journalists / photographers do not have @animenewsnetwork.com e-mail addresses and will never identify themselves as “staff.” If a freelancer c...

The Real Pirates of One Piece
anime
Uncover the history behind the real-life seagoing bandit kings and scalawags that inspired some of the most memorable villains in Eiichiro Oda's world-conquering pirate fantasy One Piece!
― I discovered pirates through a bizarre combination of Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking novels (and the weird 1988 film) and Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island when I was in elementary school, and my fasc...
Daimadaler: Prince V.S. Penguin Empire BD+DVD
anime
This hyperactive sex comedy sendup of giant robot shows might be trying a little too hard to be ribald, but it also just might generate a few chuckles nonetheless. Theron Martin gets into it.
― The very first line of the opener should serve as a warning about what you're getting into here. It translates as “turn your roaring libido into strength,” and that fully embodies the essence of the show, for ...
The X Button - Hard-Boiled Detective Pikachu
games
This week: imports join the yakuza, the Asterisk War, and a Dragon Quest construction crew! Plus Detective Pikachu, 7th Dragon, a shooter with a great title and a DBZ game contest!
― I have the winners of my recent games-as-art contest, but I'll save them for this column's last stretch. That's because I have another contest to run! Bandai Namco's mobile game Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle starts up its...
The Boy and The Beast
anime
Just as he tackled motherhood in the acclaimed Wolf Children, Mamoru Hosoda takes on fatherhood in his latest film, The Boy and the Beast. Absent his crucial screenwriting partner, Hosoda's film is an unfortunate and rare stumble for a promising artist.
― At first glance, The Boy and The Beast carries all the hallmarks of a Mamoru Hosoda film. The warm colors, wiggly lines, soft expressions, and hype...
