Simon Cowell Hits Back At ‘Rude’ Zayn Malik After He Calls One Direction’s Music ‘Generic’
Approximately 4,000 years ago (well actually maybe a month but who’s really counting?), Zayn Malik appeared to hit out at his former One Direction bandmates over their music.
So naturally, Simon Cowell has JUST responded to all the drama – which is fair enough really because he’s quite a busy guy.
In case you missed all this when it first went down, Zayn was doing his first proper solo interview with Fader magazine, which involved a weird arty video and lots of shirtless-ness.Explaining how unhappy he was in 1D, he told the mag:
“If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f***, so they could use that version.”
Not the nicest of things to say, sure, but while One Direction have never directly responded to it, Simon has decided to share his thoughts on the matter.
Talking to The Mirror, he said: “I think once he has had a chance to reflect on everything he will probably reconsider what he’s said because it was a very, very democratic process in the band.
“It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them. And to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff. Life could have been a lot worse, right?”
OH SIMON, we know you could never really be mad at Zayn. Let's hope there's still a Christmas card for him in the post.
