Visitors of all ages are invited to get hands-on at our drop-in Open Studio. Every Saturday and Sunday, we’ll explore creative processes drawn from the exhibitions on view in our galleries. Activities range from stop motion animation to creative storytelling and inking and painting animation cels. Get inspired, get creative!


OPEN STUDIO | Synchronized Sound

Steamboat Willie was the first animated film to successfully synchronize sound to the images you see on screen. Come in and play with sound effects and add them to your own original animations to give your scene even more liveliness!


OPEN STUDIO | Storyboarding and Animatics

In the early 1930s, storyboards were introduced to The Walt Disney Studios to help animators visualize the sequence of events in their stories. Practice drawing your own storyboards to show the action in an animated scene, then turn your drawings into an animatic.
