Diesel Has Opened a Store On Bedford Ave — But Don’t Worry, It’s Going Away Soon

On the heels of the Urban Outffiters concept store, Diesel has opened a similarly stealth operation on the corner of Bedford Avenue and North 12th Street, in the same luxury building that birthed The Bean’s Williamsburg location. According to a store clerk, 101 (as it’s cleverly called, because it’s at 101 Bedford) is a pop-up that will be open through December and will be replicated around the world if successful.

Despite construction at the sites of the old Dark Room, El Sombrero, and Motor City, Ludlow Street is looking a little livelier these days: Sweet Chick filled the old Max Fish space in June, the Ludlow Hotel’s Lobby Bar opened last month (with Dirty French coming soon), and now, across the street, 100 Montaditos has opened its second NYC location.

Blonde Redhead Defends Their Decadence at St. Mazie

Since 19-freakin’-93, Blonde Redhead has been conjuring killer music in New York freakin’ City. The trio – Italian twin brothers Amedeo and Simone Pace and Japanese chanteuse Kazu Makino – are absolute legends of noise-rock and sonic dreamscapes. First taken under the wing of Sonic Youth and later guided by Fugazi, the band constantly strives to create, as Simone says mystically, “something that feels right everywhere, that doesn’t feel it derives from anywhere but just comes because of something magical between us.” Their entire career has been defined by always feeling like outsiders in the city they call home.
