Tickets to watch Benedict Cumberbatch in ‘Hamlet’ are on sale soon

Benedict Cumberbatch, Hamlet, Barbican

It’s still over a year until the most anticipated theatre show of 2015 begins its run, but believe us, you’re going to want to get your tickets straight away.

As all fans of the otter-like screen sleuth will doubtless be aware, August 2015 will see Benedict Cumberbatch return to the stage for the first time since the National Theatre’s blockbuster ‘Frankenstein’ three years ago, taking on the title role in William Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’ at the Barbican, directed by the brilliant Lyndsey Turner.

The three months run is going to sell out incredibly quickly: the general ticket bunfight will kick off at 10am on the morning of Monday 11 – over the phone, in person, or at the Barbican’s dedicated ticket site at hamlet.barbican.org.uk.

But er, it gets a little worse than that – Barbican members have a whole week (from last Friday for Red customers and today for Orange) to snaffle up the best tickets.

Which is pretty brutal, but according to said microsite, there will be 100 £10 tickets available for each performance that won’t be going on sale at all this year – one imagines they’ll be day-seats for purchase on the morning of performance. And that’s about all we know for now, further details of those tickets and indeed, the identity of the rest of cast are still TBA.

Hamlet’ is at the Barbican Theatre, August 5 2015 – October 31 2015. Take a look at the top ten theatre openings in August.
