Bar opens in the middle of Old Street roundabout
Picture a relaxing outdoor space in London. Picturing it? Okay, is it Old Street roundabout? It isn’t? Well, picture again, because last week an alfresco bar opened in the middle of Shoreditch’s most famous traffic island. The 500-capacity Old Street Terrace will be showing lots of big-screen sport and is, according to its founders (one of whom runs Spin London bicycle festival), intended ‘to create the atmosphere you’d find in open-air bars and cafés of European cities like Barcelona and Berlin’. Possibly not the island getaway you were hoping for this summer, but it’s handy for the tube.
