Ever wanted to know how a designer forges a career in fashion or what goes into creating a catwalk collection? The Fashion and Textile Museum has been seeking the answers to these questions and more with it’s ‘Designing Heroines’ lecture series. Last week I watched London Fashion Week star Mary Katrantzou discuss her journey from architecture student to Central St Martin’s fashion graduate to own label designer and high street sensation. Her capsule collection for Topshop was the brand’s fastest selling collaboration to date and her digital print pieces have been worn by everyone from Keira Knightley to fellow designer Henry Holland. We spotted one of her coveted Topshop designs on Stella’s Wardrobe blogger Stella Katterman who our roving photographers snapped during Fashion Week (above).

Next up in the hot seat this Thursday May 31 (6.30-8pm) is living legend Zandra Rhodes who will be speaking to historian and author, Samantha Erin Saffer, about her prolific career in British design. Tickets are £15 which includes a complimentary drink – get there early to have a look around the Fashion and Textile Museum’s current exhibition ‘Designing Women: Post-War British Textiles‘ before the talk begins.
