Hidden away in a corner of Borough Market is this memorial to the invasion of London by a squad of Mary Poppins paratroopers. Not really: it was installed during the Olympics for reasons that remain unclear. Regardless, this assemblage of prismatic parasols is a marvel. Contributor to the Time Out Flickr group Sara Melhuish stumbled across this scene. ‘Borough Market is one of my favourite haunts,’ she explains, ‘but it was just by luck that I caught sight of the umbrellas. Walking around the corner, I was met by a sea of colour.’ Go on a sunny day, grab a drink from Brew Wharf or Del Mercato and take a shady seat under the brilliant brolly canopy.

For another great photo of London take a look at St James’s Park springtime cherry blossom.
