The best places to party this weekend
Just in case you’d forgotten, London is absolutely teeming with some of the planet’s best nightclubs, covering any and every genre of electronic music you care to mention, and also probably a few you don’t want to mention as well. So, get a head start on the weekend and plan your Friday-Sunday nightlife movements in advance. Friday
Fake Blood + The Emperor Machine
Moody tech-breaks don Fake Blood (pictured above) brings his chunky basslines and banging beats to XOYO for a headline show. Also well worth catching is a set from punky disco upstart The Emperor Machine, plus further upfront tunes spun by Lemmy Ashton, Marcus Harris and Morgan Hammer, at what’s sure to be an energetic one.
Saturday
Stevie Wonderland’s Summer Skate
There may be plenty of disco nights in London but there’s definitely a shortage of roller disco nights. Skating to the rescue are deviant disco party crew Stevie Wonderland, who take to four wheels to bring you a summer skate sesh at Hackney Wick arts space Shapes. There’ll be a full-size indoor roller disco, free skate hire, barbecue and ice-cream (not together, hopefully). DJs spinning outrageously danceable tracks that work through disco, funk, boogie, house and more will include Glowing Palms, Michael James Thomas, Nicholas Hadfield, Sho Nuff and Disco Hugh – a close relation of Disco Stu from ‘The Simpsons’, so we hear. And don’t worry if you can’t skate – the concept is just a wheely good way to add even more fun to this fully charged event. Roll on!

Secretsundaze + Oval Space Music
Head to one of London’s finest nightspots, Oval Space, to rock the latest instalment of the ace Oval Space Music series. Leading the charge are a host of world-class selectors, including L.B. Dub Corp (AKA UK techno chief Luke Slater), second generation Detroit techno hero Kyle Hall and Paranoid London playing a live set. Secretsundaze honchos James Priestley and Giles Smith will also be getting on the ones and twos to spin house, disco, funk and other upfront treats.
