‘Twin Peaks’ marathon: how much weirdness can you handle?

Twin Peaks.

According to ‘Twin Peaks’ lore, March 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the murder of troubled high school cheerleader Laura Palmer. On March 29 at 10am at Riverside Studios, the folks behind the  hugely successful annual Twin Peaks UK Festival will begin screening the whole of director David Lynch’s genre-defining TV series – plus its spin-off movie ‘Fire Walk With Me’ – back to back in one epic 30-hour helping.

This commemoration holds a special place for ‘Twin Peaks’ fans: in one of the series’ infamously inscrutable dream sequences, Laura tells FBI Agent Cooper ‘I’ll see you again in 25 years’, and rumours have been flying that Lynch is planning to mark the occasion with some kind of return to the town that made his reputation. The director has denied any such intentions – and we’re strongly inclined to believe him – but this completist marathon is the next best thing. Yes, it’ll be an endurance test, but with coffee and donuts on tap and one of the cosiest cinema screens in London, what true Peaks fan could possibly turn it down?
