Always wanted to get down into the dark depths of the deserted Aldwych station but never been quick enough to bag a ticket? Well now the London Transport Museum is offering another chance to visit (sort of). On Friday June 20, Richard West (the Aldwych guide expert) is giving a talk at the museum that will divulge the secrets, truths and tales of the fascinating old station, and includes rare film footage and photographs of spaces not normally seen by the public. After 100 years in service, the station closed in 1994 and is now only open a few days a year for tours. However, as there are no working lifts and 160 steps down to the platform, this is a great chance to virtually explore the station if you have any mobility issues, or just fancy learning some juicy tube facts.

Friday June 20, £10, 6-7pm, Cubic Theatre, London Transport Museum,WC2E YBB. Find out more at ltmuseum.co.uk.
