Dine With Kyi _Starters

London sure loves a good pop-up these days. Whether you’re after a G&T in a hardware store, a film in the park or supper with strangers, this week’s tip-top pop-ups have got it covered.

Burmese Picnic

Dine With Kyi

Nibble on nine different Burmese dishes at this group picnic in Hackney. Dine With Kyi and Well Street Kitchen have joined forces to create an evening of authentic food and (hopefully) new friendships. Wondering what Burmese food is like? Well it’s a mix of Chinese, Indian and Thai food and this picnic includes Mohinga canapes, tamarind chicken and a fermented tea leaf salad. Yum. £28, Friday July 11- Saturday July 12, 7pm-10pm, Well Street Kitchen, 203 Well Street, E9 6QU.

Pop Up Screens in the park

Grab a picnic blanket and settle yourself down to watch a classic film in one of London’s parks. Pop Up Screens begin their tour of London’s green spots with ‘Labyrinth’, ‘Legally Blonde’ and ‘The Breakfast Club’ in Morden Hall Park. There’ll be burgers, a bar and handmade popcorn from Drum&Kernel too. £10, or £24 for a weekend pass to all three films, Saturday July 12, Sunday July 13, and more dates, Morden Hall Park, Surrey SM4 5JD.

Beer and champagne festival in the middle of a roundabout

Beersham festival

Head into the tunnels of Old Street to pop up in the middle of the roundabout where the craft beer, cider and champers is flowing. Beersham is taking place at Old Street Terrace, the new bar decorated with street art (of course), full of street food and located slap bang in the middle of the street. £5 entry (includes a drink), Friday July 11, Saturday July 12, Old Street Roundabout, NW6.

Supper with strangers

Backdoor Kitchen in Brixton
Meet some new friends at an Italian supper club (you can bring your existing friends along if you’re not into flying solo). Pals Rob and Fabio (aka Backdoor Kitchen) will be serving up a Mediterranean feast and encouraging a group of strangers to share stories and eat their home-cooked food. £25, Thursday July 10, Friday July 11, Saturday July 12 (and more dates), negronis from 5.30pm, dinner at 7.30pm, Cornecopia, 65 Brixton Village, SW9 8BS.

Breakfast in a hardware store

Hackney Hardware
Set your alarm early for a 7am Breakfast with Charles tomorrow (Wednesday July 9). Or if you feel  (like we do) that 7am is just not achievable, then fear not, this hardware-store-turned-bar stays open until late and will be hanging around until August 3. China and Charlotte invite you to sip a G&T with fresh rosemary, and nibble on locally sourced food, which is served throughout the day. Open until August 3, Monday-Thursday 8am-9pm, Friday 8am-11pm, Saturday 12pm-11pm, Sunday 2pm-9pm, 493 Hackney Road, London, E2.
