Cemeteries, swimming pools, car park roofs – outdoor cinemas are popping up in all sorts of nooks this summer. But for a killer location, nothing beats Battersea Power Station. For seven weeks from July 10, Everyman is opening a 250-seat outdoor cinema in the iconic 1930s complex. With a 1,000-capacity bar and the Street Feast crew bringing their Yum Buns and jerk chicken, we reckon this will be a destination for films and an in-between-festival top-up.

This summer is the last chance to snoop around before Battersea gets the luxury redevelopment treatment. Tickets (from £10 seats to £25 booths with waiter service) go on sale in batches every two weeks or so. Right now, you can book for ‘Drive’, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, ‘Rushmore’, ‘Wayne’s World’, ‘In the Mood for Love’ and more. They’ll also be screening the World Cup Final.

Meanwhile, over in Stratford, unbeatable outdoor cinema experts The Rooftop Film Club are opening up another venue, Roof East, on June 25. Expect the usual comfy director chairs, blankets and wireless headphones (no more cinema rustle).
