Miss Julie

Fans of classy French actors, legendary Belgian directors and brutal Greek tragedies will want to make a date for next March. After calling in at the Barbican in 2012 in the lead role of ‘Miss Julie’ (above), Juliette Binoche will return to the theatre next year to star as the doomed heroine of Sophocles’ ‘Antigone’.

For theatre connoisseurs, the even bigger news is that the English-language production – which will premiere in Luxembourg next February before heading to the Barbican the following month – will be directed by Ivo van Hove, the visionary Belgian responsible for the Young Vic’s current, five-star production of ‘A View from the Bridge’.

Next year is shaping up to be an exciting one for the Barbican – more details are expected soon for the Benedict Cumberbatch-starring production of ‘Hamlet’, which will run there during the summer of 2015.

March 4 2015-March 22 2015. Tickets on sale May 16. Find out more at barbican.org.uk.
