Overview

Morrison Street Cafe is the most awarded cafe in the country in the 11 year history of the national Cafe Magazine Best Cafe Awards. Set in a historic building in central Nelson this upbeat city cafe has large spaces, indoor and outdoor dining and lots of good local art on the walls. We have a strong following of local regulars, but visitors will also enjoy being part of the Nelson vibe. The menu changes seasonally, with a focus on fresh ingredients. The Morrison Street Local Breakfast is very popular, as is the BLAT and our home-made muesli. Or try the Phad Thai, the Ginger & Honey Syrup Pancakes or the Morrison Street Local Breakfast – always a favourite. Our Sweet Treats menu includes favourites like the Lemon Slice, the Double Chocolate & Macadamia Nut Brownie and the Lemon Slice. And there are plenty of choices for those who are wheat and gluten, or dairy, free. Vegetarians are well catered for too, and there’s also a healthy kids menu. And there’s our coffee … generally regarded as the best in town … with a string of awards to prove it.

Hadn’t been here for a while and went for brunch after a big night out … awesome!

Exceptional, attentive, polite, professional service from the moment we walked in the door and consistently maintained throughout the several hours we were there.

One of the best eggs bene I’ve had and all the other meals looked amazing as well. Definitely going back again soon to try some of the other items.

Nelson is really blessed with some outstanding eateries, and this certainly one of them. It’s always busy, but seems to run like a well-oiled machine, and the food is excellent: the Baghdad eggs on flatbread are a fantastic, healthy brunch alternative, and the pancakes are amazing also.

Special mention should be made of the coffee here – I tend to think cafe’s in Nelson let themselves down with their coffee, but Morrison Street Cafe are always on the money; great extraction/crema, and really well-made flat whites.

Simply fantastic.

Friendly service, absolutely delicious hot drinks and a totally amazing atmosphere. When you visit Nelson you’ve got to go to this cafe. You can choose from a wide variety of breakfasts, brunches, lunches and desserts. They serve meals quickly, and the food is yummy. The background music is completely brilliant and the atmosphere is very inviting. However the birds outside are noisy and annoying, but this is the worst thing about the cafe. Overall it’s a great cafe we give 4 stars.

Delicious, creative and good value. Morrison Street Cafe is a great place for brunch.
We visited it on Thursday 26.August.
The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was lively.
The location is in the center of town, so it’s easy to find.
The prices are $10 to $20 for a meal witch is reasonable.
There is a wide menu so you can choose from a good variety of dishes.
We tried “the Winter Energy Salad” which had a special taste, but it was a good combination.
“The White Fish and Mussel Chowder” was a little salty but it was really delicious.
All in all we enjoyed the dishes.
We would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. We give it 4 stars.

Vivacious, attentive to our needs and cheerful, the staff were brilliant. We were served very fast and the food was absolutely delicious even though most of the food was a little bit expensive.

It’s a great idea to combine a gallery with a cafe, so you can enjoy arts from New Zealand while you have your meal. Unfortunately, the seats weren’t very comfortable.

Overall, you won’t regret going there.

Friendly staff who remember your coffee each time you go in! Def my local coffee stop!
always awesome art on the walls and yummy food!
They change some dishes on the menu for Summer and Winter and there is always something you will get addicted to! The Warm Chicken Salad in Winter is to die for and the Breakfasts are delish!!
I recommend a BLAT!!!
With different areas for a private catch up, a meal, or business meeting, there is something for all!!
Well done Morry Street!!
