Welcome to The Sundae Sessions.

It's New Zealand Music Month, what better time to launch our latest commitment to local music. nzherald.co.nz and York Street Studios have joined forces to bring regular showcase performances of local bands to you - the audience. The sessions will be curated by nzherald.co.nz's Entertainment Editor, Hugh Sundae.

On Wednesday May 4th, we invited Grand Rapids and Nightchoir to the studio to perform 20 minute sets for an intimate audience. We filmed it in HD, York Street mixed the audio, and the result is available for you to watch here on the site, or in glorious HD on the Herald iPad app.

Grand Rapids' full six-song set goes like this..
