It’s the Downton Abbey effect, of course; the success of Downton in the US has prompted unheard-of levels of interest in posh Englishness. Althorp is the childhood home and now resting place of Princess Diana, and it is her brother, Charles, the ninth Earl Spencer, who presents a tour around the house and estate that has been his family’s home since the 16th century. ...
